Default 16 Things That Took Me 50 Years To Learn

I have learned a lot of these already even before the 50 year mark and the others make great points too.
This is from a website called www.thatwasfunny.com

16 Things That Took Me 50 Years To Learn
---------------------------------------------
1- You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight-savings time.

2- You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests you think she’s pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

3- The most powerful force in the universe is gossip.

4- The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status, or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above-average drivers.

5- There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age 11.

6- There is a very fine line between “hobby” and “mental illness.”

7- People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

8- If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be “meetings.”

9- The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to annoy people who are not in them.

10- If there really is a God who created the entire universe with all of its glories, and He decides to deliver a message to humanity, He will not use, as His messenger, a person on cable TV with a bad hairstyle.

11- You should not confuse your career with your life.

12- A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.

13- No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously.

14- When trouble arises and things look bad, there is always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very often, that individual is crazy.

15- Your friends love you, anyway.

16- Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance.

the answer to 1 is "to shake things up a bit".

i honestly like it darker in the evenings, and since we have a noticable change in hours of daylight up here, so i like it.

Indeed. There are now management principals that coach people on this. There are CEO's and other managers that will ask their receptionist how they were treated by a prospective client, partner, or employee that just left. One CEO said that if he's at lunch with someone they are considering partnering with to see how they treat the waiter. One time, the waiter spilled a cup of coffee on one of them, and the guy acted like it was no big deal, these things happen. After that, he went through with the deal, and just let the little things work themselves out.

This is something I knew from a long time ago, just not sure where I picked up on it.

Oh, if your date treats the waiter like snit, it won't be long before he/she's doing the same to you.

and now its to save electricity. If the hours people are awake are majority light, the less electricity we use since less peopel will be up in the dark. Saves an unbelievable amount of electricity every day.

Except that in the south light = heat, and heat = a/c's turned on full blast.

Wish I would've known this a few hours ago! My face hurts from getting slapped now.

Even tho i'm reading these things now as an 19 yr old, would it be possible that i wont be able to really understand most of em until i'm almost 50? Hmm..maybe its a lesson better learned by experience then by reading...ok, i'll start wit the pregnancy assumption. I'll be sure to question a few tomorrow.

Do it while you're young like me. The worst that could happen is a slap in the face. When you're older the punishment is no lovin for 3 months and you have to sleep on the couch.

wow, it took you 50 years to learn that? guess i'm a bit ahead of the curve. anyway, that stuff about daylight savings time is for farmers is crap. trust me, my mom's family own a huge farm and ranch in montana. they make their own schedule, they don't need the entire country to change their clocks an hour just for them. that ben franklin candle and electricity reason sounds way better. also, it helps because literally we are out and about more during the naturally day lit hours than the darker evenings. now stop blaming farmers.
