Here, it seems as though it's only the female bartenders and 7-11 workers say "hun" and "sweetie", lol.

And someone's (hehe to Tomas) already mentioned my biggest peeves; ATM Machines and VIN Numbers.
While all text messaging annoys me, the one "text-ism" that burns me up beyond all else is "u" = "you". If anyone, be it via a message board, IM or otherwise uses "u", I automatically downgrade their intellegence level to that of a 12 year old valley girl. Or lime jello, whichever is lower. Is it that much gatdamn trouble to type two more letters?
Text messaging reminds me of the yellow ad panels with red and black print I used to see inside city buses all the time...

Back then (the fifties) it was called "Speedwriting," and was a low-end substitute for Gregg or Pitman shorthand.
Now days, even though so many people use shortened words, wrong words, etc. to "communicate," I'm still a firm believer in trying to get my ideas across using real English (or whatever other language I try to use at times) with proper grammar.
Using the current "in" pseudo-words and zero coherent syntax is not a good way to get one's ideas across - assuming those ideas are more serious than "c u"
Coherent, cogent, cohesive communication of complex concepts requires correct choice of words, and fairly rigid rules in how they are placed to avoid misunderstanding.
Sadly, even 10 years ago when I was hiring college grads, and long before "texting" began, probably 80 percent of the candidates couldn't write a grammatically correct, correctly spelled paragraph describing even the simplest of ideas. Those folks didn't get hired, because doing that very thing was a part of the job.
Something similar even happens one-on-one in person. Back when I was in a wheelchair I was in a store at the mall and this "kid" who worked there was trying to sell me something (and I wanted it, but needed some information).
He was waving his arms around and poking at my face like some sort of wind-up hip-hop gangsta. I was getting more and more annoyed, and finally when one of his arms flew by again I grabbed it (beware of people in wheelchairs - some of 'em have impressive upper body strength) and very quietly told him that if he did that again I'd tear it off and beat him with it.
Amazingly he behaved like a normal human being, used actual English, answered my question without the unnecessary histrionics, and I bought what he was selling.
Whoops! I've gone all pedantic, again. Sorry. It just happens.
Carry on! :D

I will read the rest of this thread later, but I get annoyed at:
1. People who use "like", "um", "dude", "man", and "Ya know" to substitute a comma in their sentence or story.
My boss uses "ya know" when she's trying to tell me a story, and she will say it every time she pauses. So basically every time there is supposed to be a comma in her sentence she will use "ya know" and I have to say "Yup", or "uh-huh" to reassure her I am listening.
2. I am also annoyed of people on forums who do not use punctuation, especially when they are typing a really long post, it's so tough to read!
3. The term "That's the bomb!"
4. Women who try to have an accent or act and dress like they are European...
or white people who try to act black and, vice versa, black people who try to act white. GIVE IT A REST!
There are more but I have to run...

One that really bothers me is when some one is explaining something to you which you
know nothing about and they start it off with "you know how...".
for example my friend always does it like when he explained how his teacher suspended
him from school. ((Just so you know im not in his class or in the same school so i know
nothing about his teacher))
so he starts with "you know how my teacher blah blah blah......"
so i reply "No, No i didnt know but now i do thank" he gets so mad lol.
Another one is "can i ask you a question?"
why ask if you can ask a question when you already asked one by asking lol
i just reply "you already did so no, you cant ask a question". then they still ask
