I've been listening to some of the new linkon park

 

I've been listening to "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John.

 

UCK ne linkin park is horrible compared to their old stuff. they've still got ok beats but even those are nowhere near as good as they used to.


my ipod has over 8300 songs. i've been into a lot of indie stuff as of late , mat kierney is resounding in my head


and gym class heroes ftw.

 

I have 12k+ songs on my iPod... it takes a long time to scroll through on my head unit...

Today, it's been Mastodon and Head Automatica.

 

yeah that;s why i'd never use a headunit that controls the ipod. piece of garbage. on ANY deck.


I use an aftermarket pioneer and cable which charges my ipod while playing yet I get to control the ipod as if it wasn't connected to anything.

head automatica is great music.

try out some cute is what we aim for , the sophmore attempt , the scene aesthetic , the secret handshake , jacks mannequin , the kooks , oh man so much newish music .

a lot of it is actually 6 months to a year old but whenever i play it for non indie listeners they're like "man this new band is so cool"

the new brand new and new modest mouse stuff is cool too.

I love modest mouse... hellogoodbye is fun... when I first listened to it, I was like, damn, this is really poppy... but I got into it.

 

Bad News Bears. This kid makes great, poppy music...better than HelloGoodbye in my opinion, or Play Radio Play.

hotbox, you say the new LP sucks, but you go on to mention Gym Class Heroes? Though my biggest question with them is how they are considered anything near punk.

gym class heroes are like pop punk , which isn't punk , lp sucks now.


gch has a much better feel to it. and all their smash ups with patrick stump are cool.

No they aren't. They're more like a pop version of hip-hop. Just because Travis skates and wears skater clothes doesn't make their style anything nearly resembling punk.

 

well when you are rapping over rock music and it's indie out of the punk scene then there ya go .



and most pop/punk bands and screamo bands are post hxc which is a lil weird to me. I get teh screamo but the pop/punkers?

I much prefer pop punk to screamo, screamo like Norma Jean just sounds like garbage. There's little musically inclined about any of it.

Pop punk you generally get stuff that is listenable, may not always be the greatest (Blink 182 & Good Charolette), but you also get bands like Green Day that always release something great.

 

Recently downloaded the entire Hendrix catolog, and between that is the new Smashing Pumpkins single and some John Lennon

 

gym class heroes suck. and i'm listening to copywrite and j dilla.

 

been listening to alot of old Slayer lately.. currently have South Of Heaven in my car... ill never get tired of Slayer

 

Billy Talent

Canadian punk band. Not sure yet how to categorize them, they aren't emo, not pop punk. They're really good, no matter how you want to categorize them.
