Default Anybody CCNA certified?

Taking the exam on the 29th of this month. Any words of wisdom?

I've got the OSI model and subnetting down and am totally prepared in those areas. I'm working on mastering access lists and routing tables (nervous about the sim half of the test) I've got a good grasp on VLSMs but I've heard the test doesn't even cover that?

Passing this test will equal a BIG pay raise for me so I'm praying to pass on the first shot which is all but unheard of.

CCNA = Cisco Certified Network Associate

It's the first level in a series of certificates that you can get in the computer networking field.

Cisco certs were always way over my head. As much as I know about computers, I STILL have yet to take my freakin' A+ haha. Work is paying for it once I take it, but I guess I should review and actually schedule a time to take it.

Good luck on the CCNA, man! That's one step towards mo' money mo' money mo' money.

Let me know how it goes - Im not certified in anything but im a systems engineer - CCNA and MCSA, MCSE - they will help - the CCNA will only help if you have cisco equipment that you change around. Where I am now we have a very small amount (that we change - everything pretty much stays the same) so it wont do me much good. The CCNA/E will deff teach you things that you didnt know. I have people around me that can help me if I get stumped which helps.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes. I work in a network operations center and I work with cisco products every single day so the configurations/troubleshooting stuff is a breeze for me, its just learning the TONS of other stuff that's hard...and like one of you said it's not difficult there's just A LOT to learn. After I get my CCNA I am either going to go head first into getting my CCNP or I might try tackling the Network + cert. I'll definitely let you guys know how it goes.

Good luck with your test. You will do fine.
CCNA test is just multiple choice questions. Just take lots of practice tests!!

Once you get to CCNP and ultimately CCIE, it gets hairy.. with all the configs and troubleshootings....

I'm not certified, I'm just too lazy to study and take the test. I use Cisco Equipment on an occasional basis.

But after reading the CCNA prep books... to me if you are Network+ Certified, and have hands on cisco experience you should be good...

If you want to prepare for the exam.. buy a lab book and routers and switches off ebay and practice.

it also has sims and config questions on it...just very basic stuff like configuring basic routing protocols and the basic config of routers/switches

i'm getting nervous now that it's getting closer to monday...i havent been doing anything but studying, not much scion life'ing like usual lol

A+ is nothing but a pain in the ___. They throw in a lot of info that 99% sure you will not use, dont have to know, or just dont care to learn about. If your 17 and want something this is a different story. Its good to get things like that done and out of the way - You dont want to take anything but that or the basic microsoft test yet. I should have studied all the basic tests while in college but that just didnt happen. ha. word.

I completed four semesters of Cisco networking in high school but never took the test. Boy do I regret that

CCNA's used to be a guarantee of a 6-figure salary.
Now, I think that's gone way down.
Still good, and hard to pass, but there's a lot more of them out there, and the pay isn't what is used to be - until you get a senior position.

Good luck!

SOOO...I have to retake the test on Monday...I showed up and started the test and after 6 questions the exam died. I took the test at a community college and their "testing server was having issues that day for all the exams"..that's what they told me at least.

My 2nd question was an EIGRP lab...surprised me that it came that fast and caught me off guard but I did complete it. I think I'll do alright on it though. We'll see.
