Default Anyone else playing Final Fantasy XII? (12)

Just curious if theres any other FF fans in here. FF12's got me horrificly hooked right now, haha. I was nervous at first because for starts, THERE's NO MORE TURN-BASED BATTLES!! Everythings fought out in real-time. They took their combat system from FF11 and threw it in here. The fights and leveling are much much more complex. Gambits, licensing, etc. You have to aquire the rights to be able to use weapons/abilities/magick/etc., THEN you have to purchases them from merchants. Anywho, chime in here if you're playing.

I got it. I like it but it gets annoying at times when your searching for something and you dont wantr to fight. The fleeing doesnt really work good. Im in the gaza plains right now loking for the sunstone.

Whoa! We're at the same exact spot. Well, i'm still trying to cross the SandSea's. Been kinda lingering around just fighting and leveling up. Keeping eveyone at the same level. Right now i have everyone at level 16. Vossler is at 17 but being he's a Guest he dosen't level, but Vossler kicks @ss! I've gotten everyone up to 2 mist charges too (Quickenings). It fun just to level up and get license points just to explore the board.

To me the turn based battles are still #1 in my opinion. Everything was more organized and the battles were epic! I loved the larger than life battles, for example fighting the Weapons in FF7. So far i haven't ran into anything larger than some mimic queen in the lowtown sewers in FF12 that seemed larger than life. The battle system in FF12 to a novice player seems kinda messy. Once you get some experience and get some useful Gambits, its all fun. Gambits are commands that you can preprogram into your other characters such as "Ally: HP <40% ----- Cura". So in this case, if any of your allies drop below 40% of their HP this character will automaticly cast cura. There TONS of gamits and TONS OF TONS of combinations you use. Everythings prioritized so i'd suggest placing heal gambits higher than attack Gambits. With some tinkering you can program all allies to fight own their own. I like to keep the Group Leader's Gambits OFF and just control that person during battle to keep a feeling of control. All in all, the new battle system is FUN! The quicking attacks (FF12 limit breaks), aka "Mist charges" are pure eye candy. I haven't seen any of the Espers (FF12 summons), but from looking through my Strategy guide, there's some pretty SWEET summons in this one!! Ulitma is a summon in this game!! Remember Ulitma from FF7?. No, i don't mean Ulitma Weapon, i mean the spell "Ultima", well anywho, she....., yes, i said SHE, is a summon in this game. Oh and there's no Bahamat in this game!! WTF!? Of course there's a CID. Well, 2 of them actually, haha.

Your still very very early in the game, you should be fighting, don't avoid it, you'll regret it later. Those license points will come in handy. Oh and stay away from the "WereWolves" in that area where you're at when you have to make the sunstone yourself cuz they're pretty strong. One attack and your history. The wolves are simple to kill, but you'll know what i mean when you see the werewolves. They walk on 2 legs, about twice as tall as your characters, and the ground booms when they walk around. Just yeah, avoid them.

Oh if anyone with the game hasn't seen the Brandy Games Strategy Guide, i strongly suggest looking into getting one! Don't really need it for "Help" but it does provide you with all the secrets in the game. Here's a juicy morsal:

To get the MOST POWERFUL WEAPON in the game you have to avoid 4 treasure chests!!

Here are the locations:

-The chest right outside of Old Dalan's house in Lowtown/Rabanastre
-The 2 chests in the southwestern most part of the cellars in the Rabanastrim castle (When Vaan breaks in and steals the magicite, where he runs into Baltheir and Fran.....ohhh.....Fran..........oops, sorry)
-And the last one i have yet to come across because i obviously haven't gotten to the last one yet.

BYeRhOnE, being that you're shortly ahead of me, if you've touched any of those chests, which if you didn't know of this then you probably have because who can't resist a treasure chest. But yeah, if you touch any of these chests, the Zodiac Spear disappears from the game forever and ever......

^^That is sad days. Kinda like trying to get doom train and you can't use any freaking steel pipes and then you have to make potion+s egh. FF creaters are tricksters, geez. how would anyone think of NOT opening a chest? whatever. So guess who's buying FF12 in like a week when they get paid!? I know I won't be disappointed!

/\/\ You're going to LOVE it! I advise, DO, PLZ DO buy the strategy guide. Nothing like missing something important you didn't know about and not being able to go back and get it. And if you get the strategy guide flip ahead a few pages when you get into a new area and always keep any eye out for blue boxes that say, "Don't Touch That Treasure Chest Part 1, 2, 3, & 4"

Just got done playing for 4 hours straight!! Did alot of backtracking and leveling. It pays to level up once in a while. I took down the Aivon at the entrance of the kings ruin with one attack dealing 23,000 damage! (7 string quickening combo with "Cataclysm" finisher) Took down the first Demon Wall (the optional one you can either fight or Flee from before having to fight the other Demon Wall that the story makes you fight. However the optional one is twice the level of your characters. So if you're level 20, its 40. Took it down with 2 attacks . Quickening rocks.

Beware of the Entities that roam the northern most platforms in the SandSea. They're Lv. 50+ with 50-60,000hp. They cast Silenga (Level 3 Silence) to everyone as soon as it spots you an then follows up quickly with Firga (Level 3 Fire) dealing 2,000+ damage to EVERYONE! And in this area so soon in the game if you've done leveling most your characters only have 600-700hp MAX.

The more and more i play FF12, the more and more i'm starting to love the new fighting system! For the first 10 hours or so you haven't unlocked much to be used in the fighting system but once you starts unlocking some truely amazing abilities, it gets VERY complex! Not in a bad way either! I still favor turn-based, but we might not be seeing any of that for a while, if ever again after seeing a few videos of FF13 on the PS3, it uses the same type of real-time combat

Jovan, i will warn you, the story starts off WEAK at the beginning. Trust me though, it picks up Tremendously. This story is by far the most complex Final Fantasy story, and yes, i've played them ALL (excluding FF11 because any FF fanboy will agree "that one dosen't count" ). This again is where the strategy guide is a very very smart purchase because it will hold your hand and let you know exactly what is going on. Otherwise you may be left wondering WTF!? at times.

!!! It's the most complex? Daaaang. I have played all except FF11. And I thought the plots couldn't get anymore intense but well ... those kids at S E do some pretty amazing things! I have been reading a lot about it and YOU keep making me even MORE anxious (you stop that, lol!) aaaaHHHH!!!!!
