I personally believe that all religions pray to/follow the same God. That's one reason I believe it is alright for me to pick and choose ideas from many belief systems and apply them to my daily life. God didn't say, "Be a insert name of religion here, have faith in Me, and follow me." He simply said, "Have faith in Me, and follow me."

OK, if I found the correct post you referenced, you want to stick with theism vs. nontheism….

All acounts of jesus are based on hearsay.
No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions jesus. All documents about jesus got written well after the life of the alleged jesus from either unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings.
Ive seen God... physically, dont tell me what I have and have not seen. Murderers go without being found sometimes without any evidence... does that mean they dont exist and that these people just simply collapse...

uhm... murderer who get away do exist...they are just smart enough not to leave evidence behind. Theres a theory that says there could be a string of serial killers out there right now who are smart enough that we will never catch them... mainly because we dont know they exist. They are that smart and good at what they do. It is very possible that there is a serial killer or killers who just travel the country leaving behind unsolved murders. not to threadjack, but thats a pretty wicked awesome theory

The middle eastern cultures have relied on an oratory history since the dawn of civilization. The book of Genisis with all of its "begats" was passed from generation to generation for several thousand of years until the invention of the alphabet. This litergy was passed on without error as a legacy to their forfathers. This is a highly valued personal asset in the middle east even to this day, many of the illiterate people all of the middle east can quote scripture and several hundred poems/songs verbatim from memory. So the fact that the historical Jesus was not written about for several decades would not lend to beleive the facts were anything but accurate. At the time of Jesus the Israel religious leaders were the only "literate" people there were. And they were NOT going to write about him at all.( The name Moses was removed from all the Egyptian records on Pharoe's orders.)
During his ministry there were three views of Jesus: Hate - Terror - Adoration.
And now the three views to consider who Jesus is are: liar - lunatic - Son of God.
There are many biblical artifacts in Israel, just as the scriptures state, especially the architecture of the city of Jerusulem and surrounding area. The bible is accurate and I believe the New Testament is also accurate... in the tradition of oral history where willfully speaking hearsay in the time of Jesus was punished with death or loss of your tounge. Thank Jesus now days we have repentance and forgiveness of our transgressions towards one another. Will an atheist forgive you if your truely sorry? Why should they if they believe there is no truth to Jesus or his Gospel? If they accept parts of the Bible then they are not true atheist. All sciences deal with "natural phenomenon" that can be measured/repeated in labs. God and Jesus Christ are of the "supernatural" and outside of these realms. To measure hate or love requires you to participate but murder and marriage can be studied in scientific analysis. Theology and religion are the only fields that can deal with God and Jesus Christ. You will not go to a theoretical physicist to ask what to do about your neighbor beating his wife and kids. His science teaches him about physics but what have you been taught about abusive people? Why care if not for the fact that all men should behave well, and what is the ideal of that behavior? I tender my reason for believing in Christ Jesus

There are many parts of the Bible that are not accurate. There are also many written texts that were left out when the book that we call today "The Holy Bible" was formally put together. Many women were written in as ****** and many other types of deviants, but they are finding out more and more the Bible was translated from Hebrew into English incorrectly. Maybe if someone was able to re-translate the Bible from the Hebrew text a lot of the inconsistencies would vanish.
Why not bring forth the many missing books? I do not see where it could hurt anyone. I could actually see the books to also help in clearing up some inconsistencies.
I've done some research lately because I used to believe that the Jews believed that Jesus was a person, but not the Son of God. I found out that the Jesus that is written about in their Bible may not represent the Jesus Christians follow today. In the Jewish texts, Yeshua (Jesus) is considered a sorcerer and was ordered to be stoned to death by the Sanhedrin (Jewish "Supreme Court"). No one is sure if Yeshua and Jesus are one in the same. The reason is because at the time Yeshua (Jesus) was put to death the Romans had the authority to put people to death not the Sanhedrin.
None of this is proof that God does exist, but it is just some information I thought was interesting.

Well said.

What I don't get is that athiest who believe in Evolution act like they can't understand why someone would put so much faith into religion. Yet, to believe in Evolution, that requires so much more absolute faith. People that believe in evolution have a lot more blind faith in the theory of evolution, than most people who believe in God. Evolution to me, is just as much a kind of religion than any Christian religion or Muslim or Hindu religion.

Someone mentioned experiments going faster than the speed of light. Well here's a classic example of selective reading on the religious side. You need to understand what you read not just the headlines and jump to conclusions. Faster than light experiments are based around what's called Cherenkov radiation. This is when a photon goes faster than light in a medium. Meaning that the speed of light through a vacuum is the fastest speed achievable. The speed of light in water is not this speed. The speed of light in glass is slower than the speed of light in water which is slower than the speed of light in air which is slower than the speed of light in a vacuum. (notice when you put a straw in a glass of water. See how the straw appears to bend but is actually perfectly straight? This is because of refraction and the speed of the photons of light changing) Cherenkov radiation does NOT occur in a vacuum. NOTHING goes faster than the speed of light in a vacuum. Read your facts before spewing misinterpretations of science.

Much like religious people calling scientific Theories a wild guess. Check the definitions first. A theory is a validated hypothesis that is experimentally reproducible. A guess is something you just throw out of your head that has had no experimentation or little research to validate yet. And if you actually have a REAL concept of how evolution, chemistry, or physics works you would realize that life arising in the universe in the way evolution suggests really isn't that difficult to imagine.

Good lords man, haven't you ever played "telephone" in school before? The whole point of that game is to show that oration is a poor way to keep records. You can't even get a room of 20 people to pass one message accurately, how can you expect generations upon generations to pass the message with 100% accuracy. It just doesn't happen.

I would go to the physicist if he was a good person with good advice. But you know who I would go to first if my neighbor was beating his family? The COPS. There are millions and millions of people on this planet that are good people without christian religious dogma.

Ok, explain to me exactly what "faith" Evolutionists need to believe a concept based on miles and miles of historical and scientific evidence, versus religion that has no evidence or proof of any deities or magical happenings other than writings from people who weren't even alive in the age of the happenings.

Physically? So you do have some kind of proof then, correct? Or was the physical manifestation mental?

Your murder analogy made no sense whatsoever.

As I suspected, no one challenged my post on the last page proving there is no evidence for a jesus. I must then assume no one has any evidence...

There was a Jesus (Yeshua), but no real proof that the Yeshua in the Jewish books is the same as the Jesus we know as Christ today. There are many similarities, but no true proof.

Not to mention there were dozens of so called "messiahs" all around the same time as Jesus was supposedly alive. (Appolonius for example) Anyone who has ever seen Life With Brian can tell ya that.

There is as much proof that jesus existed as there is proof Hercules of the Greek Myths existed.

I'm Atheist and I don't necessarily beleieve in evolution, however I accept it over god as it is based on scientific research while God is not. I have mentioned this over and over and over but I am perfectly willing to accept that we are a relatively primitive people who simply don't have the technology to determine our beginning. Not unlike earlier cultures who thought the earth was flat, the lightning god caused lightning etc, etc,.

There was a man named Jesus (Yeshua), but no way to say that he was Christ. Yeshua's mother was either raped by a Roman soldier or willingly gave her self to some man which she was not betrothed to.

BS...it has never been contentioned that Jesus didn't exist. Even the most skeptical of historians. Whether you accept the Bible's message and accounts as true or not, specifically that about Jesus being our savior, still, the majority of it, to the most skeptical person, holds historically true. This is proven by artifacts, scrolls that are not of the Bible, other historical acounts, and city remains. As posted before by someone else, it is just how you want to percieve him... a liar, a lunitic, or the Messiah.

Yes, there were false prophets and fake Christs. There still are, and the Bible said that there would be. What was the name of that cult where people thought they'd leave on a spaceship???

Anyhow, I believe in the authenticity of the Bible, and the eye witness accounts of the miracles that Jesus did and the people who witnessed Him dead and raised again.

Even tangible proof isn't always true. Look at the news.
