Here's why I don't care...

Ruth was a drunken fat slob, Aaron was a pretty small dude, Bonds is just a huge chemically produced muscle.
It's like one guy killed 65 people with a stick, and then some guy comes around and kills 66 guys with a machine gun. Suddenly, he's the best. That just aint right.

The steroids argument can go either way...
Steroids dont help with fast twitch muscle response (aka putting the bat ON the ball (one of the hardest things to do in the world))
On the other hand, it turns what would have been a base hit into a home run. I really dont care either way. He's there to put on a show and sell tickets, and that he does! It is a shame for Aaron though, who, from what we know, did not use any performance enhancing drugs.

more haters??
First off, anybody that totally discounts Bonds' HR numbers, will also have to discount the ENTIRE "steroid era." You can't pick and choose which numbers you believe when you KNOW there were hundreds of players on steroids. Your are naive if you think you have never rooted for or supported a juiced player. How are you supposed to sort which stats are "legit" or not? It's all or nothing!
Second, I am not convinced steroids can make you a great baseball player. If steroids has such magical power, why is there no player in the entire "steroid era" even close to level of Barry Bonds? 7 MVPs? 500 stolen bases? most total bases of all time? most walks of all time?
Thirdly, as far as ethics are concerned, all of you moral supremecist better get off your high horses. If, you're looking for moral heroes, professional sports is not the place.
Lastly, Barry hit 756 HRs in 2,500 fewer ABs than Aaron. Barry played in 2 of the hardest parks to homer in while Ruth and Aaron played in small hitter's parks. If you know anything about baseball, you would recongnize this kind of talent comes around only once or twice a lifetime. Real Baseball heads know the deal.
