i'll tell him if you tell her...idk what her problem is..she likes the way cars look but she doesn't care about spark plugs, coilovers, CF hoods, light weight crank pulleys, or turbos...she doesn't care to learn about that stuff and she hates when i get stuff for the tC. she's like you don't need it. your gonna crash one day and all that money is gonna be gone for nothing.

You know...at the beginning I was like that too, only bout aesthetics...then one year after i had my scion i signed up on SL and started to get more and more interested
My parents both raced cars growing up (SCCA stuff with a very fast fully prepared Volvo and a mini cooper s -original one) and it was cool becaus ethey enjoyed it and I learned a lot. There also wasn't the questions and difference in feelings about what driving fast was. I remember on family vacation we would be driving along between 80-100 for most of the way across Montana and N Dakota and into Minnesota and I'd be sleeping through it and there was no tension because that is the way THEY did it.
My dad worked on the cars, my mom didn't but they both valued having fast and good cars-actually went with my mom when she test drove a Ferrari 308 ad a maserati.
My girlfriends have never been really into cars-well modded in any performance sort of way and they have disliked them sometimes as well. My scirocco was too low, my xB rides a bit rough and noisy, my VW had scary good brakes and she didn't like the way it shifted and the leather seats were slippery (goes along NOT well with scary brakes).
I would like a gf that is in to cars at least enought to understand why it matters to me and understand what makes a car special. Went to a dyno day last week, saw an R34 skyline-shiny so she liked it ok. Saw a really nicely done EVO-she thought it was silly and not a real performance car even though it would easily outdo the Countach she rode in as a kid (she didn't believe me)
I tell her about headers and a cold air intake for better mileage and more performance-she just asks why I didn't buy a faster car in the first place. I guess someone who at least understood some of it would be nice.
Maybe we should start the scionlife singles page to try to meet our scion-mate.
