Default DLP, Plasma or LCD???

Went to Best Buy today to check out some 50" TVs and I'm pretty darn confused...
What do I get and what name brand do I get? I need some help from you. They offer a great service plan for 4 years for $399 and once that plan expires, I can pay for another service plan. C'mon, help a confused one out...

LCD is the way to go! The only thing to go wrong with them is the back light which can be replaced for a few hundred dollars. Plus they cost less and the ESP extended service plan is less. I have had a Sharp for over a year so far so good. Make sure it has the HD tuner in it.

Ive had plasma for 3 years now with no problems. By the time it goes bad the next best thing will be out so I really dont think it makes a difference. But to say one is a waste of money is crazy. Ya might not like it, but all of them are a waste of money because they all become obsolete.
If you want the best, DLP is the leader right now.

I'm lookin into teh same question right now and I think LCD is the way to go. I just need some help on figuring out what stats I should be looking at and how to tell good from bad LCD's.

ive got a LCD and its deff the way to go. LCDs are the future. plasmas will slowly start to phase out and are much more difficult to make than LCDs. make sure u talk to someone who knows their ____ very well. some TV brands just buy the actual Tv off another company and just slap their name on it. you can get the same TV for hundreds less.

My opinion is is depends on what size you want. If you are looking 40+" and below I say LCD. If you are looking 50+" and bigger you should either go DLPor get a projector and a screen. I am shopping right now and am looking at a couple LCD's, but I am looking for something for my bedroom and to use as my computer monitor. Something between 23-32"

The blur on the outside edges of the DLPs on fast-moving shots absolutely kills me.

Well it has on some I have seen, and not so much on others. They do vary pretty seriously.

I would not get a plasma.

I have had my plasma for 5 years now. No problems yet.... Plasma is not going to just leak. They are new so nobody knows the life expectancy yet, but they should last just as long as any other type.

LCD's for the most part have really crappy black levels. I've had my plasma 3 yrs as well and it has been great. DLP's are nice too for size nd value but still can loose brightness. To each their own, All the technologies have their pros and cons, it matters to each persons taste and eyes.
