I agree with you. I talk to my dad, and and aunt and uncle, down in Texas. It always ends up with me saying "drink all the kool-aid you want, just don't spit it in my face. They're all faith-based voters buit what's really sad is they're all closed-minded and willing to accept anything they are told about Obama as if it was factual.

It's intellectually embarassing to me that I am related to them.

My family is about an even split between Republicans and Democrats. The older members from the islands are all pretty much in line with the Republicans. The people born here are mostly very Democrat. I'm not embarassed by any family member, cause at the end of the day we're blood, but every 4 years it gets real hard to talk to certain people.

One thing that bothers me is this. So many African Americans are voting for Senator Obama, but when you asked them why, they are speechless or are very vague in the reasons they give. I think it is ridiculous, voting for someone just because of their color. I guess this is what happens when less educated people from the lower class try to get involved in politics.

It works both ways. It works many ways actually and not just because of race. There are people who wouldn't vote for Hillary because she's a woman and not because of the issues. People who won't vote for Obama because he's black and not because of issues. People who vote for McCain just because that's what is the norm for the religious.

There are uneducated and/or prejudice voters across the board.

Don't get me wrong, they're still my family too. The part that bothers me is that they've done nothing to look at both sides of the issue but are still willing to accept what they are told about Obama.

I was raised by them to have an open mind and not to judge a book by it's cover yet, here they are, judging.

Any of them can have a kidney if they needed one. They just lost a little of my respect as voters and I will trust their opinions less if I need advice. This is NOT because they disagree with me. It's because I KNOW they aren't looking into issues or trying to know who they are voting for. They can't tell me anything about McCain except "maverick" and "POW". They know PLENTY about Obama though, and all of it is the BS people have spread about him not being American, not being christian (which shouldn't matter to us), as well as the other shaded stuff about his "associations".

Can't get them to quote anything accept Fox news and, when one of them tried the "not a christian" angle on me and I turned it back onto "bearing false witness" against others, they told me the ends would justify the means.

Wrong.

Maybe they're shocked that ANYONE asked them that question. The Democratic Party has been the party of the Civil Rights movement and inclusive of all Americans. In fact, the South was democratic territory up until LBJ pushed signed the civil rights law. At the time he said he'd just lost the South for a generation. I think it'll be longer than that.

Look at the crowds at an Obama-Biden rally and see the mix of people of all colors.

Then check out the crowd at a McCain-Palin rally. Not so much.

I'd be speechless too if I were a person of color and someone asked me why I supported a democrat. The color of the candidate has nothing to do with it.

Yep. Sad thing is, there are numerous people who vote for someone based on physical or spiritual reasons only. That's just kinda how it goes. A black guy saying they're voting Obama because he's black isn't any worse than someone saying they're voting McCain because he has more faith in god.
