My guess is that your friend is a dork.

I can tell exactly what I'm thinking only using my mind.

no we dont. Thats as ignorant of a statement as saying we only use 10% of our brains.

Our entire brain is fuctional, yes. But the human mind has infinite potential. To say we use 1% of our brain is a pretty generous statement in itself.

No human has ever used 100% of his/her brain. There are cells and connection in our mind that our brain does not use, even though it has the ability to do so. These parts of our brain are mysteries for now. Space and the self concious mind...they are the the final frontiers as we will never reach an endpoint for either.

Using 100% of the brain, and using 100% of human potential are completely different issues. We use every single portion of the brain, and that's a fact, Jack.

There are cells and connection in our mind that our brain does not use, even though it has the ability to do so.
I had to single this statement out. It falls under the "use it or lose it" philsophy. If you make connections at one point in your life, and then fail to reinforce those connections throughout your life, the brain will use those connections and space in the brain for other things you are doing.

There is no wasted space in the brain where secret powers and brilliance can be unlocked. And that't the point I was making.

Once again, it seems that you are directing your attention to the potential of human achievment, which is a noble cause indeed, but has no bearing on what I was refering to. And yes, 100% of the brain is used, just not all at once. BTW, they do have a term for when that does happen, it's called a Gran Mal Seizure and usually results in hospitilization at a minimum.

Let me put it another way:

Take 2 5 gallon Homer buckets from Home Depot, and let's head to a diamond mine. In order to maximize the potential of the bucket, you'd want to fill it with diamonds, preferably large ones. So, a smart guy like yourself is going to do just that. However, let's take Raymond out of the shop class were he's welding a couple of pistons together for the heck of it to go along with us. Raymond fills his bucket with shiney buttons, dirt, and really cool pick axe he found. Now, 100% of Raymond's bucket is being used but its potential isn't being maximized.

And that's the difference we're talking about. You can fill your mind with diamonds, or not. Either way, 100% of it is being used in some way or another.

I fill my mind with coal, and let the pressures of life turn that into diamonds...
