Default gefroce 7900gt install problem HELP

ok, this is the motherboard i have http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...0&sku=I69-2124 . I decided to get a bfg geforce 7900 gt. To disable the intergrated video on the mother board, i went to the device manager, selected it, and went to disable. Now when i go to install the drivers for the geforce, it says "the vga driver is not an xfx vga driver. go to nvidia.com to download it" . That didnt really sound like the solution to me but i went to nvidia anyways and couldnt find it, what do i do!!!

Hmmm....I'm not as up on all that as I used to be, but it sounds to me like something you would take care of in the BIOS, not just Devise Manager. Try going there and turning off the on-board video. Hope it helps.

Crack open the manual for your motherboard and find out how to turn the integrated video off using the BIOS; you cannot disable through Windows.

i had checked the bios and all I could do was change the default video adapter from the intel to pcie, which i did, but it does the same thing. Only thing i can think of is if there is an update for my bios that will help

when you plug in a graphics card, the integrated graphics card is automatically disabled.

bios is set to use g-card over integrated.

you shouldn't need to disable anything. note the card is bfg and yet its looking for xfx drivers. make sure you have the right cd or downloaded the right software. i have xfx 7600gt which uses the same software. if you had an xfx before just uninstall the software from that. then put the new card in (make sure the monitors are in the card not the mobo). then install bfg software.

if you really feel you need to disable onboard do it in hardware manager not bios. Never screw with the bios unless absolutely necessary.

You shouldn't need to manually disengage anything. After you put the new card in, the computer should automatically get the image from the card once u plug your monitor in. I guess just make sure all your connections are tight, and that your power supply meets the minimum requirement for the graphics card. Once you get the thing up and running, it should show the screen and all you need then is to install the driver for the card. If the cd is wrong, you can go on to www.nvidia.com to dl the correct driver. O man, congrats on the 7900gt, i've been meaning to upgrade to it, but i would've had to change my mobo and P/S, which is 2 much of a hassle for now seeing how schools starting in 2 weeks. Tell us how it runs after you get it working, i've heard issues of em displaying artifacts straight out the box, or running really hot.
