i hate old people!
In general, young drivers have much faster reaction times than older drivers. Older drivers therefore are slower to react to fast-acting, unpredictable events. Younger drivers, on the other hand, start with zero first-hand experience, and only gradually learn just how unpredictable everyone else can be.
I once had a lady in a large sedan back out of a parking space right into my right-front fender. My reaction was to stop dead in my tracks and blow my horn. Experience factored into my decision: had I tried to swerve, speed up to get past her or try to quickly reverse, I could have turned a small fender dent into a longer scrape, or possibly hit someone else. While she didn't react in time to avoid hitting me, she said she saw me right as she heard the horn, which may have helped to further limit the impact damage. Her husband passenger explained that she hadn't adjusted her mirrors after taking over for him.
I've only caused two fender benders in my driving history, both when I was young and fearless. I've since been tagged by young and old drivers alike. They like to say things like, "Didn't you see me backing up?" or "You slowed down too fast at that slippery intersection." That's okay if they see it that way. It's the police reports and their insurance companies' checks that count.

Speaking of older drivers you have to hear this:

I was told after 21 that since there aren't anymore special birtdays with stepping stones (16, 18, 21) that time just seems to fly. But I think for me...I think the reason I think I am old is cuz I'm already as far along as a lot of the other older kids are here. I'm almost outa college with my bachelors, and I'll be working on my masters before I'm even legal to drink...it makes me feel old and young at the same time

I still act 23 ish though I'm 43. It's like you reach a certain age and stay they mentally. At least for me. It just seems like the last 20 years went by too dang fast. Too bad time can't stay the way it was in high school, real slow motion.
