Why anyone would wait hours and hours in line to spend over $300 on a phone is beyond me, especially when there's a lot of very good competitors in the market now.

I wish I had enough time to wait around for hours in a line. Stupid job/life/sleep/sex.

But the iPhone isn't the latest and greatest out there. It never was. Apple just told people it was, and they just sort of... believed them. That doesn't make them tech junkies, that makes them sheeple.

if the iPhone isn't the latest and greatest out there, then what is? Also, I'm interested in the 3G, but I'm curious to know what the monthly fee is with AT&T, I can't find data on it anywhere. Does anyone know? Thanks!

The first five hits when I google "iphone alternative":

Seriously, as long as the iPhone has been out, you'd be completely daft not to think someone has come along and made a decent competitor.

hey guys, let me start off by saying that i work for at&t.

-the iphone 3g has 3 price points 1. if you are activating new line or are eligibe for an upgrade on an existing acct the prices are 199 and 299. 2. if you are not eligible but want to get one you can override your current contract and extend it for 2 years from the day you get it and pay 399 and 499 for the 8 or 16gb. and the 3rd price will be to no-commitment (no contract) price which will be 599 and 699. however, at&t is not selling them w/o contracts at the moment.

-when you get an iphone 3g you must also add the data plan to your monthly plan which is an additional 30 per month.

-if you have a family plan w/ multiple lines, you can have multiple iphones but you need the data plan attached to every line. basically each phone has its additional 30.

- the 30$ data plan includes unlimited internet/email/whether/maps/stock ect. however no text messaging is included. you can however add additional texts 200 for $5 1500 for $15 or unlimited for $20. you can also do unlimited family text for family plans for only $30 for all of your lines.

- the GPS feature on the phone is not like an actual gps, you still have to look at the phone for it to tell you where to go, it will not "speak" to you. its similar to the old iphone but waaaaaaay more accurate.

- yes you can upgrade old iphones to the 2.0 firmware via itunes

- also when you upgrade, there is an 18 dollar upgrade fee and if its a new line of service its 36

- your monthly for the iphone 3g for one line the cheapest will be 69.99 plus taxes
450 min (rollover free m2m and 5000 n&w) 39.99
iphone data 30.00

if you choose not to add a text plan (you are not required to, dont let someone sucker you into paying for somthing that you wont use) you will be charged at a pay per use rate of $0.20 per message. when you send one its 1 message and when you recieve its another

- at the moment at&t nor apple offer insurance for the phone. however, apple has what is known as the "apple protection plan" its basically extends your one year manufacturers warrenty from apple to two years total. however, it still does not cover damage. and that is a one time charge of $69.99

other than that if you guys have any questions feel free to pm me.
