Any idea what caused the fire? Were you home?
I worried about fire alot when I lived in apartments.
Your tC safe and sound? Did you have insurance?
Sorry to hear this, man. Hope things work out for you ok. Just remember, as mad as you are about losing things like the computer, tv, video games, CD's etc, be thankful you got out of there with your life!
Take care, bro.

Dayum... I know it's been said already, but at least you all got out of there and are ok. It's terrible losing everything you have, but at least you're ok. Let's all hope that kid that left the cig butt on the porch is held responsible.

That's the biggest fear I have where we live. Our apartment building used to be a schoolhouse back in the 60's, and some guy bought it and turned it into an apartment building. When he did that, he cut a bunch of corners to save money... and I'm just scared to death one day someone is going to do something stupid and the whole place will go up and we'll lose everything. I mean the things I'm worried most about losing is my computer, bed ($1500 bed), important documents, and things with sentimental value. I'd imagine this place would go up pretty quick... so I always try really hard to triple check that everything that is on is off... and there's nothing burning when I leave.

i empathize. i lost everything in a fire in '97. it happened at night (about 1:30 am)while i was at work. nobody told me until 3pm the next day. i happen to see a neighbor while i was at class and she asked if i was alright... had no idea it happened till the. you would think someone would call or something.

watch the insurance company. they are artists at getting out of paying. i will not get insurance with that company ever again. good luck getting your money.

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's such an life altering event. We had a fire when I was 15 and didn't lose as much as you... and that in itself was tragic and stressful. I can't imagine how you and your family feel.

It gets better in time. Odd thing though is that the smell of fire, in the future, takes you back. There was a fire at my work a few weeks ago and the smell... each time I walk past it... sends shivers down my spine.
