Question For Seattledave
Don't worry God did it = Don't worry evolution did it.
But, Krusty, We can prove evolution with complete skeltons with incomplete skeletons, btw, all we found was a tooth or skull, then maybe a bone hundreds or thousands of miles away. BTW, you are an idiot for believing in creation. With all the proof we have.

BTW, how is that not a lie? You find different bones from different species and build one species. How is that a "complete" skeleton. Replace Lie with Fabrication right?

So you combine two different species to make 1 skeleton, but in the same sentence, you don't believe that we evolved from the other.

Still at it eh...? Good.
So let's say that no complete skeleton has ever been found and there are only fragments of evidence for evolution and the VAST majority of scientists don't except evolution (none of which is true)... So we will say that all the evidence we have is a leg bone and a couple skulls... Guess what people!? it is still WAY more than any evidence supporting creationism which has NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER!
Oh, and I have explained this before but I will do it again... It is not either or and anybody who thinks so is an absolute MORON! If it turned out evolution/big bang (two very different scientific theories) are wrong... that in no way proves a god.
How do you people not see that religion has been fighting science every step of the way? Science is threatening to religion because more and more it explains things that used to be attributed to divine intervention. Please don't be those people that will fight tooth and nail until the imperical evidence is overwhelming and you just look retarded. There was a time when EVERY christian believed the earth was created in seven days and is only about 7,000 years old. Now due to science there are only a few who grasp at that notion. You can believe in your God and Science (for now) so stop being closed minded. Krusty, I'm sorry to say but dave was right, you are being irrational asking simple questions in a blatant effort to attack well accepted sciences.
So nobody could explain why there is no mention of planets in the bible? Ok well then I must assume that it is because the bible is written by men who didn't have telescopes...

Krusty, you know I think you are an intelligent guy. I don't understand why you think that believing in evolution which has lots of evidence and the scientific community supporting it is the same as creationism which has no evidence. I would respect you more if you simply admited there is no evidence for god, as he mandates that those who believe without seeing are blessed, and at the same time opened your mind to learning new things. If you turn into xdorx and do your research on ilovethebible.com and christianityforlife.com you will never learn anything or get anykind of perspective. Notice all the links posted by atheists have been wiki or a science website and not atheist.org or ifyoubelieveingodyouarestupid.com...

Good passage about alligators. Mentions alligator fossils as well as simple sensory pores on the surface of the skin. (related to the retina comment above)
"Alligators like to lurk. At night, half submerged in a swamp, they lie in wait for prey, little more than their eyes visible above the water. It's enough to give you the creeps.
But it's not the eyes, apparently, that you should be concerned about. Rather, it's the alligator's five o'clock shadow -- those little bumpy spots on its face and mouth.
The spots have been known for as long as people and alligators have been staring at each other, but their function has been a mystery. Now, a University of Maryland researcher has discovered that they are sensory organs that can detect ripples in the surface of the water, like those created when dinner jumps into the swamp.
The researcher, Daphne Soares, found in her experiments that alligators responded to even the slightest ripple -- caused by a single droplet hitting the water -- by turning or in some cases lunging toward it.
This response occurred in total darkness and with the alligators' ears plugged, but only when the animals were submerged to the point where their faces were right at water level. Ms. Soares also found that when she covered the spots with a rubbery coating, the ability to detect surface disruptions disappeared.
The spots, which Ms. Soares calls dome pressure receptors, have thinner skin than other areas of the face, and have nerve bundles directly underneath. Exactly how they work is not known, but she suggests in a brief report in the journal Nature that the bundles respond to the pressure changes in the ripples, not to actual water movement.
The nerves underlying the spots pass through the alligator's facial bones, creating a distinct hexagonal pattern. Ms. Soares found similar structures in fossilized bones of alligators' predecessors, showing that the sensory organs developed perhaps 200 million years ago and have been useful enough to be conserved throughout alligator evolution."

Nearly complete: Turkana Boy
Oh and by the way, you don't need a full complete skeleton to prove a species exists. Even if you had a dozen skulls of one species that were different than any other species on the planet, it would constitute evidence for its existence.

Right there, as was mentioned in a earlier post.
The bible also dosen't say anything about Aids or Nuclear Weapons or Nissan Skylines. Does it matter? No.
You are searching, you are digging for any "proof" that the bible is wrong. The only way you can find proof is by taking stuff out of context.
You and Dave are so god damn stubborn, and whenever anyone shows you that your beliefs are not as scientific as you make it seem, you demean them. Thats mature.
You are right about a bone proving that something was alive. When you try to tell me that you can mix and match bones from different areas and get a skeleton, than thats where you lose me.
No, I can't prove God exists scientificially. Science says "here look at these bones, if you Imagine it, you can see evolution happen".

ok, crusty, here's how the giraffees evolved into having longer necks
giraffees lived in the plains, where the only green vegetation is in trees, ok?
and now have one mother giraffee have 4 babies.
2 of the babies are normal height, 1 is below average, and one is above.
they all can get food from the bottom of the trees, but only the tallest one can get to the top of the trees. As the food near the ground becomes scarce, the only giraffees eating well and surviving to breed are the taller ones.
a tall giraffee is more likely to have tall babies, because as i'm sure you don't know, genes for tall/large in most plants and animals species are almost always dominant, and therefore are more likely to pass on.
do that process 10x and compare those giraffee's height to the ones 10 generations back, they're taller on average huh?
now do that 10,000x and you've got a much different giraffee now, huh?
did you know most all dog types we have were only developed in the last 300 years from mostly all the same dogs? if you took a small dog that had big ears and bred it to another random dog that was smaller with big ears, and kept doing that generation after generation, you'd get a whole lot more small dogs with big ears, huh? and after say, 20 generations of heavily line breeding, you'd get small dogs that looked pretty uniform with big ears. make sense?
that's called natural selection. now, do you see how easy it is for species to change?

That's a very poor understanding of science. I woke up in a really bad mood today and I did not mean to demean you in any way. If you feel like I did I apologize. I simply ask you to realize that you have no evidence for god. That is not a comment on whether you are right to believe or not. blessed are those who believe without seeing right? I just ask you to see science for what it really is. You could learn so much if you stoped looking at it as an attack on your god.
I just hate it when people pretty much call me a dumbass for not believing what they believe. You just like all scientists demean the masses into what you want them to believe. Just like mainstream religion, "If you dont believe in God, you go to hell. You go to hell and you die"

Science is an intelligent field of study, when you argue against what science is doing for everyone's understanding of the world, you sound like the catholic church saying we need to go back to the dark ages.
argue that certain elements of science are wrong, i do, but seemingly arguing against science as a whole or even that certain parts of evolution, natural selection or our world being older than 6,000 years old is true is like talking about "evil math" or that "reading is from the devil and I'll have no part of it". Scientists, and physicists are about as smart as you get for human beings, not your preacher or gw bush or anyone pushing forward the christian movement, sorry.
You know how intelligent you have to grasp and believe in christianity? you don't. 3 year olds believe it, and so do adults with the intelligence of 3 year olds.
Have you read aobut the conversion rate of biology college students going from christian to atheist(it's 80%)? Do you really believe "evil scientists" are out to corrupt the few people intelligent enough to even understand "science"?
Look my dad is a true blue rocket science for lockheed. He's tone deaf and has no appreciation for art or music of any kind. He's as egotistical as i am, and he values logic and reason above all else, except that, because of his upbringing, he throws away all logic and reason for the most important part of his life, religion. He knows the flood couldn't have happened as described in the bible, he's totally aware that linking adam to jesus makes the world about 6,000 years old and means dinosaurs and prehistoric animals couldn't have existed with the bible's history. But at least he admits it. He won't say "the bible is wrong or a lie" and ends any conversation going that way, because he's "not allowed" to think or say that. He knows it makes him stupid sounding, but in southern baptist texas he comes across more ___ people than he does atheists, so he doesn't ever defend his religion to anyone but me. Plus he's also near 60 years old, and death is around the corner, and he doesn't want to have wasted his whole life believing in christianity on the off chance his odd version of a religion turns out to be true.
Yeah except if you don't believe in science you don't get punished for eternity. Scientists don't start wars. Science is only demeaning to you when you don't understand it properly and propagate incorrect assumptions about it or when you pull random crap out of your butt and call it scientific (creationism).
