Default Shipping Something To A Military Address?

So I'm selling stuff in the classifies section and someone PM's me on
price for shipping to 09494. I go to UPS and type that in and it doesn't read as
a zip in the US, so I Google it and find out it's an address for military.

How would I calculate this on the shipping quote tool for FedEx or UPS?

I keep putting 09494 and it won't work.

you can't.

you need to find out the location of the ship or station itself and its actual whereabouts as far as a real zipcode.

hell, he could be halfway across the globe with that same address.

guess that information is classified, and you can't ship anything to that location which may or may not exist.

no.. the locations obviously exist... however for places like Naval ships... they could be in the middle of nowhere, or in any part of the world. it's not just a matter of confidentiality.. just makes it easier to get the mail to someone who moves around.

well... besides the zip code, other parts of the address any indicate at least the general area of where he might be:
APO (army post office) and FPO (fleet post office) addresses typically have a two letter designation.

AP = Armed Forces Pacific
AA = Armed Forces America
AE = Armed Forces Europe

blah blah... and they have their central locations where mail is processed.. but either way... it's a little ridiculous, and frankly stupid for someone to try and ask for a shipping quote for a APO/FPO zip code... not impossible... but might as well be.

you can ship it there fine.. but a quote? yea... better to ask the guy for an actual US address.. (i'd like to smack the guy.. thinking he can ask a stupid question like that.. oh wait... there's no such thing a stupid question...)

When i was in Spain, the address given was to an APO, then it went from there, ask the guy for his actual shipping address, he is probably new and not quick enough to realize the address are different than a standard CONUS address. If you need more help let me know, unfortunatly i work in the cargo shipping section for the AF and we move all the personal mail as well as the cargo.
