Default Sleep Paralisys?

I've always heard, from my friends, about this thing called GaWee. (scissors in korean) They told me they would wake up in the morning and couldn't move what so ever. Well, it finally happened to me this morning!

This is scary ish! I woke up because I heard a wierd sound, then shortly after, I heard it again. I saw or felt some kind of figure move around my room so I turned to look at it but I couldn't move! My eyes, being wide open, could only see my hand which was lying right next to my head. I felt like I was dreaming but this ish was REAL!

So I was late for work and scared as h-e double hockeysticks that this is going to happen again.

Try using that excuse to tell your boss you're late.

Sleep paralysis does seem pretty freaky but I've heard about it. I think it's the cause of the "smothering ghost" stories in Hawaii. I'm guessing it'll be a nuerological disorder where one part of your brain thinks its still asleep while another part thinks it's awake.

You sir, are correct.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

Looking into it more, I found out that it's also accompanied by hallucinations and sounds. That would explain the dark figure I saw and the wierd sounds I woke up to.

Some of the rare cases sound scary!

Vibration, Involuntary movements (sometimes the feeling of sliding off the bed or even up walls). The feeling of being pulled in different directions.

I'm glad that ish didn't happen to me.

Smothering ghost sounds more familiar to the cambodian society too. I had that one day myself. 'cept I was trying to scream for help or at least tap my wife so she can tell I was having trouble. But nothing. All she heard was me murmering and thought I was just talking in my sleep. I couldn't move nor speak. And a few hallucinations here and there too.

But I like the scientific explanaton rather than the cultural ghost smothering you thing.

never had anything like that EXACTLY happen...

but one night I went to sleep, and I don't know how on God's green earth I managed it, but I fell asleep in a way where BOTH... BOTH of my arms fell asleep. Of course I woke up in the middle of the night and had to use the restroom...

In hindsight I'm sure it would have been funny if someone had seen me flailing my arms around trying to get the door open, but soon enough I had enough feeling in one of my arms to get the door open and go potty LMAO

Of course, at the time it wasn't funny at all... afterwards though I thought it was LOL

I get those, and this thing called lucid dreams-It is when you are dreaming that you are wake. I dream that I am in my bed, right where I am, but I don't wanna sleep, i want to wake up, but I can't, it is like im trapped. I get them all the time when I take naps. And when I finally wake up, I am more tired. I also have diagnosed insomnia, but the sleeping pills make me feel funny.
Some people say that they like Lucid dreams but they scare the crap out of me.
