The tumor itself was attached to the brain stem...He had 6 weeks of radiation, 1.5 years of chemo, and multiple surgeries including a complete craniotomy...He had to learn how to walk and talk all over again...Considering the odds, we feel he is doing pretty good! He has short term memory loss, balance problems, damaged hypothalmus and thyroid, weight issues, eyesight problems, and is considered special ed...More than likely we will have to take care of him the rest of his life but that is ok by us...Even though he is in 6th grade at school right now, he is functioning at about the 2nd grade level....

He was diagnosed April of 2000...His MRI's for the last 2 years have been clear, thank GOD...Doctors say if he can go 8 years without reoccurence then we can consider him healed...

I will definitely pray that those MRIs stay clear.

As time goes by, will the after affects of his illness improve at all? If you don't mind me asking, that is.

Thanks for the prayers and no problem asking at all...Doctors are uncertain and unable to give us any answers to those questions...The tumor at full size was the size of my fist...Not only did all the procedures affect him, just the shear size of the tumor damaged many things...

I have added more photos on page 2 of the thread link above...I will continue to add photos every so often...I will let this thread serve as an inspiration to some...It will also serve as a reminder of how precious life is and we do not know when our time is up...You see a lot of whinning and _____ing on this site but hopefully this might make those look back and say, "I really don't have it that bad!"

I lost it with the grandmother and Braedon picture and her praying God would take her instead. What an amazing woman... I bet she was extremely bonded with him and bet she's doing everything she can in her position to keep him with you guys.
