wow, you're right! i hadn't thought of that. the US is as least as good as italy on any given day....we should be in the final!

World cup decided by penalty kicks

So anyone going to the local sport stores and buy remaining WC 2006 stuff? There should be some closed out Brazil and Germany jerseys laying around. Maybe 25% of MSRP. I have a non-pro friendly soccer match coming up so I need some gear.

i agree... i think i said something like france didnt deserve to advance in an earlier post.. it sucks that the game was decided by a pk on a weak call.

i think the ref did a pretty good job with this game. he was definitely a lot more cautious in penalty decisions than he was in the USA-Italy game...

I think that though France did get extremely lucky with the PK, they do deserve to move on. Portugal missed out on that bit of luck, but they played equally with France. Again, it's the World Cup, so luck is always a factor.

yes PK are mostly about luck

i'm hoping France will play as badly as they did with Portugal

but as many italians think we r very glad for 3 things:

1. Brazil got eliminated - i think a lot of ppl despise their arrogance going in there already thinking of having won
2. We beat germany + on their home turf - after all the trash they put on us and other teams
3. We made it to the finals - and that's no little thing

haha, yes, Italy had an unbelievable run this time. Brazil was a bit too cocky, and everyone hyped them up expecting them to be finalists. Germany did much better than they anticipated, so even though they did trash talk a lot, they are to be applauded.

I'm just sad that England didn't move on. Oh well. Guess I'll stick to watching the premiership ...
