DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
btw who here uses a portable softbox/speedlite combo for photographing outdoors?
im torn between keeping my 430ex and getting a softbox and the st e2 wireless transmitter for my off board flash use
or
biting the bullet and getting the 580exii and use that as a master flash and the 430 as a slave flash w/softbox for outdoor key lighting and/or fill flash.
right now im contemplating portability so I want a single off board flash with a larger diffuser and possibly a reflector.
ideally in the end I want a complate 3 flash kit for portable enough for on the go shoots. i.e.
key light, fill flash and back light. Thats why I want speedlites because they are portable.
possibly umbrella for key, softbox for fill and back light.
but right now I just want a single offboard flash with large diffuser and a reflect as the fill light so its super portable. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

i actually think I shot the car pics with too low of a flash exposure, the branches, I couldnt really avoid. I like how the branch pics came out except for that single one in the foreground.

I went to mess with the Canon 40D today at BestBuy and daum that sucker is huge, i guess im use to my Nikon D40. ill be getting the XSi pretty soon and try selling my Nikon D40 and gear sometime by the end of the month. I didnt like the XS, seemed to cheap and small compared to the XSi.
well the rebel kits are beginner slrs so their features and complexity will be smaller than their bigger D brothers. the 00D models are pro sumer so they are good enough for pro use but are used most by serious amateurs and back up pro cameras.
the pros use the 5d and 1d. As you go up in model line the higher tolerance the camera will have in noiseless images at higher ISO's. also the 5&1D are full frame cameras while the step down versions are 1.6 cropped frames.
the rebels are more for people that want the in between transition of a point and shoot simplicity with some benefits of a prosumer DSLR.
