DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
exposure is right...looks just a tad soft...
horizon line is just a little crooked...
since the can is the only thing in the photo, the crop seems just a little tight

YES! My Nikon D90 came in a day early, I missed the delivery so I just picked it up at UPS... My memory card won't be here till tomorrow though... I found a 512MB to use for tonight, I'm just waiting for the battery to charge

that camera looks familiar... oh wait, we have the same one! LOL! time to get a 50mm ASAP... or a 20mm or a 24mm. either 20 or 24mm is my next lens. congrats on the new dslr black, youll love that thing. i know i did.
my love for my d90 is slowly turning into a freaky stalkerish obsession.
i shot some stuff today and still need to get used to the fact that i can shoot at iso3200 with ease. the D40 couldn't shoot 1600 without looking all noisy.

Ok... Battery finished charging... Here are my VERY FIRST pictures using a DSLR camera
... I know they probably suck, but I never used one before... I was trying to experiment with blurring the background to focus more on the subject... I didn't mess with the exposure yet, just on the f/ for right now... All pictures taken in RAW and converted in PS CS3... I could use some feedback and tips

Top half of my Wolf statue

Sonic FTW!

My hand carved Dragon I bought somewhere:

That's about all that I took that I liked for now

definately a big jump from a 20d
wide angle f2.8 must be saaweeeet.
anyhow notice anything in regards to IQ between the 20d and the 50d?
My friends use a 20d and I use the 50d. However Id be interesting in knowing the differences between the two in terms of image quality.

pic 2 - background is distracting, shadows are harsh and the model has a few hotspots,
remedy = try moving the statue to a different location with a better background. Bounce flash off the ceiling with a diffuser like an omni bounce or something that throws light both forward and to the ceiling, it should take car of the hotspots and the shadow.
pic 3 same as pic 2.
if you are using the cameras built in flash, than try reshooting at a wider aperture, lower shutter speed and higher ISO with no flash. If flash is a must stick a tissue or tracing paper in front of the flash to diffuse the light before taking the shot.
