to be honest i like both, sorry, haha. if you are going for a photo with intense feeling i like the second. if you want a nice photo and just a photo, 1 is great.

An HDR is more than just running a single exposure through photomatix or whatever program you're using that's capable of creating HDR images.
You need multiple shots at different exposures. And you'll need a tripod so that your camera and the background (or anything in the picture for that matter) doesn't move.
