When you pull the photos out of iPhoto, it automatically converts them to JPEG. However, if you find the folder with all of the photos in it, it will have all of the RAW photos. It should be in *Name* > Pictures > iPhoto Library > Originals > *Year* > *Album Name* > Files.




And if you can't figure out how to navigate the folders, just go into iPhoto, right click (yea that's right _______s, right click on a Mac), and go to "Show File." Then view the folder "by columns" and you'll be able to freely navigate.

Another toss... Thinking about playing around with color effects on these, so far the only PP I have employed is levels/curves

 

I want to get into a dslr camera and i was thinking an entry level like the d3000. Is this a good choice? Is there any better camera for the same price? Is there a forum somewhere ppl are selling their dslr? Thanks

 

If I were you I would try and find a better camera gently used. Check www.photography-on-the.net forums in the classifieds. There are generally good deals on used bodies, such as the Canon XSi or T1i which would be good for you.

layer masks in photoshop. takes a little practice but it's not that hard once you get the hang of it.

no no no im not the pilot either. i just keep the jet flying. fix it if it breaks. mostly just take photographs though for the air force as long as nothing goes wrong. kind of pulling double duty i guess. like what i'm doing right now for example supporting the antarctic program... i havent done much for my actual job on paper (knock on wood) but have taken numerous pictures that are getting published. there's not enough budget anymore to send the actual multimedia people to take the photos. the base I'm at is kind of relying on me and the opportunities i get to bring home what we're doing "on the front lines" so to speak.
