You don't even NEED a hood for the 50... Plus that looks like it makes the manual focus ring just about impossible to use, which would be a serious problem. I have to MF my nifty anytime I'm in low light.
And yeah, the nifty is $90-$100 new. What a bad deal

Roja I dont remember pressing the quote button.
I've seen $100 and up + shipping new. So my price would be saving you $10-15, plus the hassle of finding the hood. If you dont want/need the hood that's cool, will sell w/o but I found it to be beneficial. Does protect and keep light out, I like it way better then w/o the hood and the ones mostly for sale don't have the adapter ring for the 1.8. I never had a problem with manual focus with the hood.

For anybody that wants to watch a LIVE VIEWING of Chase Jarvis on an actual photoshoot of his. http://blog.chasejarvis.com/live/
I went on a little shopping spree today:
Sigma 18-250 F3.5
Nikon 50mm F1.4 AF-S
Tamrac Adventure 74 backpack
And before the weekend is over I should have an SB-600, filters for the 2 new lenses, and a fisheye or 2.

i actually know a guy that bought a 70-200 2.8 because of how big it is in SIZE and was ____ed when he found out it didn't zoom as far as the ghetto 70-300mm which is much smaller. i was like dude that is one of the most sought after lenses! he didn't see why. it's not about function for everyone.
