Thinking of adding a 85 f/1.8 to my bag.

 

my 18-55 isnt cutting it anymore for bokeh/depth of field, what lens should I look at upgrading to? Moving into shooting people/nightlife.

Ya Jon, I hear the 85 1.8 as well. or I will replace my 50 with the 1.4 version or the 28 1.8...hmmm?

 

NY, I've got the 1.4 version and it's a night and day difference as far as build quality for sure! The focus seems to be a LOT better too and none of that hunting crap the 1.8 likes to do.

Yeah I'm trying to stick with primes if I can. The only two non-primes I want are the Nikon 12-24 and the 70-200 f/2.8. My next two purchases will probably be the 85 and the 12-24. When I go FF I'll switch out my 35 f/1.8 for the 35 f/2.

 

anybody on here that likes to watch podcasts, look up DTOWN TV. It is a Nikon based photography tips show. Definitely a good watch.

it's awesome. if u get it as a podcast u can get the first series and that is the nikon specific stuff, the section season goes onto canon and other stuff.

Yeah if I was a baller I'd already have my D700. But the 12-24 and 85 will probably be ordered in the next few weeks. The 70-200 can wait since I don't operate in that range unless I'm at a sporting event or something similar.
