i've got the 1d iiN and a 5d classic and LOVE it. If the 1ds is anything like the 1d IIn then u will LOVE it. I couldn't imagine not shooting at full frame. ha ha 1.3x is bad enough. ha ha
If u get a 1d series get ready for two finger menus and navigation. it's bout the only drawback I can think of from the 1d series.

woohoo, a friend of mine is getting married next week and asked me to take some pics. another friend is going with me, she is gonna do all the formal/nice pics and im gonna do all the candid/paparazzi type pics. should be a lot of fun!
What's two finger menus? Is it a big issue? I noticed there's no select button in the middle of the selector wheel. How do you like the 1D Mk II N? I almost got that a while back.
I know, I'm beginning to wish I had the FF DOF. Also, the High ISO performance on the 30D isn't great. I'd like more focus points too d:

LOVE the 1d IIn. but it is definitely a TOTALLY different camera than even my 5d. Just getting used to the controls is gonna take some time. There are 45 AF points, AF is SUUUPPPPPEEEERRRR fast, has a TON of options that really makes the camera super personal to u, can write to both CF and SD cards even at the same time, and is good and weighty to keep down on camera shake. i also LOVE how far the viewfinder comes out from the back of the body so ur nose isn't pressing on the back of the LCD screen. ESPECIALLY nice for us eyeglass wearers ha ha
The two finger menus means u litereally have to press the one button and hold it will u press another one or turn the main dial to select the option u want. It isn't something that will slow u down once u learn it tho. Just takes some getting used to.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the info! The one thing I'm kind of concerned about is the 2" LCD on the 1DS mk II since it's only 2" and sometimes I rely on it to check exposures and see how my lighting looks, you know?
u should just use the histogram for that. I hardly ever use the LCD for checking exposure cause they are usually kinda off anyways.
That is one reason i went with the 1dIIn and not the 1d II. it has a 2.5" LCD instead of 2". the 1.3 crop factor isn't bad at all really. my 16-35 is still super wide on the 1d IIn. It's still like 20mm wide when i'm zoomed out to 16mm which is still SUPER wide. u'll love how fast the AF is for sure. it makes all my lenses focus like 100x's faster than my 5d ha ha
