DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
obviously set up a tripod....handheld is next to impossible
personally i set it up shutter to bulb and use my remote. i open for about 30-45 secs depending on how frequent the lightning is. Once i see a huge strike i close and then reopen for another
Depending on the lightning you want to set our F stop to about 7-9 to start off...if the lightning is really bright go up to about 16. if its dim go down to about 4. Its kinda trial and error. i was set around 7.1 when i got these and i missed a huge bolt because it was just too bright
oh and be safe, i shot these from my 2nd floor bathtub haha

Hhaha nice. Pretty much what I did. I'll post mine from Afghanistan when I'm on computer. Really fun though cause you like only see it for a split sec. But your camera captures it idk blew my mind when I first did it.
Bunch of new stuff from Canon was announced recently. 60D anyone? How about 8-15 f/4L fisheye zoom? Pretty crazy stuff.
I'm sort of annoyed that Canon is focusing too heavily on video. I bought a DSLR for pictures, not video. If I wanted to make movies, I'd buy a video camera.

Fisheye zoom?? Sounds interesting. I wonder at full zoom will it look less like a fisheye?
I must say I was messing with the canon 7d in bestbuy today and love the colors I get with. Really confused me looking for the buttons but made me want a canon again.
I really need to find someone or place nearby that has a d700 or d3 to see if I like it better than canon.
