^The D300s isn't full frame so if you're set on getting it you can start getting lenses now. If you plan on going full frame, buy lenses that will work on either. So instead of the 35mm f/1.8 get the 35 f/2. Although, you can use the 1.8 on full frame. You'd just have to deal with minimal vignette but from what I've seen it's nothing bad.
was just gonna say that as well.
dont even own a prime? shooting in program at night with no flash? not familiar with the priority modes... but ready to upgrade to full frame?? not trying to be a douche or call you out but i think you're getting a LITTLE bit ahead of yourself there.
until you are anywhere near doing professional work (which pretty much nobody here is), i would not be too concerned with FF. unless you just urinate cash. because you dont need it. glass gets ALOT more expensive for FF too. 35mm 1.8 is a great first prime. probably the best one for anybody shooting with one of the DX bodies with no AF (you). its $200 shipped. give it a shot. i wouldnt be too worried about FF at the moment. i'd be more concerned about iso capabilities and affordable faster glass than FF if i were you right now.

i think all nikon glass fits all nikon bodies.. and there is no such thing as elite class like canon L but pretty much builds their glass as good as they can for their price
i agree, no need to do FF.. crop sensor also gives you an extra focal length on your glass while it lenses gets more expensive as you go up in focal length when you have a FF

^ i really love it, ive had it since december. I got a package with the 55-250 and i think i paid around 600 for it (had a printer rebate and i sold the printer) so it was well worth the hassle
i do wish it had a couple features on the higher ends but this is my first dslr so it was a great starting point. Its great to travel with due to its size (especially with a 50mm)
i will love to keep it as a backup when i get the funds to upgrade to a higher end model.
if you are just getting into photography its a great stepping stone to learn the ropes. But if you are into video i would go to the t2i (you have more options to learn whereas with the t1i you are stuck on auto)
