Flash to freeze the subject. Looks kinda cool though. I would adjust the tones so not everything looks like the same ambient color.

Anyway, i need more flickr contacts so add me if you havent yet!

What lens did you use for that? I've personally noticed that a faster lens makes a huge difference.

the tone is from the street light over head, i cant really get rid of the color it cast without washing out the pic.

no flash was used as its a pretty big distraction for these guys, they said i could walk anywhere on their "stage" and they would avoid me/play with me just not to flash them. so it was a pretty big crutch.

lens was the kit 18-55 my 55-200 is a LOT faster but wouldnt allow me to get the field of view i was hoping for.

^ I had the same problem shooting some BMX riders at dusk. They didnt let me use a flash, so the pictures turned out like crap.

anyway... think I should lighten this picture up?

In that case, your only good bet would be using a small prime wide open.

Yeah that's probably where it was, right around there. I work off La Palma and Van Buren but go down La Palma all the time. An '04-05 SW tC with 3 silver Super 7's and one RS1, slight TRD drop, etc. nothing too special.

Luc1f3r, panning with the subject, AI-Servo (for Canon users) helps a lot with motion, something non-kit lens with f1.4-2.8 is beneficial. High ISO - not sure what you were shooting at. Also AV TV mode helps to select a proper Shutter, at least to use as a base so you can use Manual or whatever you prefer (manual is best)

hmm, i was panning, but trying to pan with an object moving fast with sudden braking and in small spaces is something a bit more of a challenge then say a drag strip. and you cant pan in a circle lol.

i was shooting at 400 or 800 iso depending on where i was standing (one spot was darker then the other)

i was shooting in mostly (P)rogram setting. what is the AV setting, ive heard it referred to before but theres no reference to it in my manual. (D60)

im also trying to make the best with what ive got, i dont want to buy new lenses for this body, and am trying to save for a D300s. the lenses are just too costly for the D60 and wont be compatible with a full frame camera so im trying to hold off.

i am going to ask a few friends if they have any primes i can barrow for the next show so i can see what i can get.

and, i did get a date set up with the guys for a private day show so we can do some pics.
