So with the Prime Challenge over, it's time for something new. I came across the idea of using a Guy Fawkes (V for Vendetta) mask for portraits. They can be had for about $6 at Party City If you don't know what I'm talking about:

I'm looking for any rules to go along with it, or we can keep it simple and make our own. Thoughts?

the mask is cool but how many different portraits can we get in 30 days lugging that mask around?
what about a 30 day challenge with a smaller object say a miniature toy such as a Lego man or something of that size which can be easily carried around. id be curious to see what kind of sets people will make.

Well originally I was thinking of something similar except using Amazon's Danbo figure but I know everyone isn't going to want to spend $50 on an action figure lol. The Guy Fawkes mask challenge doesn't have to be everyday. I was thinking of just a winter portrait project. I've seen people use the Storm Trooper mask as well.

^That's even better since you'll be able to go outside and not freeze to death lol. One thing about this mask is that it makes the picture. It doesn't really matter what you're doing or the surroundings you're in.

I'll be down to shoot with the mask. It'd be hard to pull 30 days though. I'm trading in the zooms for primes. Thinking Sigma 50 1.4, canon 100 macro, canon 135L, sigma 80, or something wide. Need to pick 2 and really leaning towards the 50 and 135. I can pick one higher value lens...sig80 or can135 and a 50 1.4 or something like it.

I just got back from Party City and they only had one. Looked like it had been returned so I passed on it. I'm gonna go look at another store tomorrow unless I just order one from eBay. Maybe you guys will have better luck finding one locally.

^ I really really like this idea, Jon. I like the Guy Fawkes mask because it's a simple emotion that can creatively be applied anywhere. Something like the "blank male mask" that was made famous by the Jabowakees would be cool, too.

But I'm in for the Guy Fawkes challenge. I'll hit up Party City tomorrow. Also, guys check out the holloween stores like Sprit and what not. They usually stay open for an extra couple of weeks to sell extra inventory at discount prices.

Yeah that's why I liked the idea when I saw it. It's hard to define the expression on the mask. It's kinda like the trollface except better lol. And we don't have to have a photo everyday. But it is possible since it works in pretty much any situation where you have your camera and the mask. We can decide on rules, if any. Like whether you have to be the one wearing the mask or any lens restrictions.

I didn't even realize we had the Spirit store here. I'll try there tomorrow if I can't find one at a different Party City.

If anyone wants a barely used 580EX II i'm going to put one up tonight. I'd rather let it go to a fellow SL'er. letting go a 24-105F4L and 70-200 F4L also.

^ PM me prices on all of those items? I need to build a selection of Canon weapons.

I think for the challenge we should lead it open with the mask. Any lens, any situation, anyone can wear the mask. Personally I'll have a hard time just getting out and taking pictures with it lol

Yeah letting anyone wear it will cut down on having to bring a tripod with you or letting someone else handle your camera. I don't know about you guys, but that's a rare occurrence with me lol. Only other photogs are trusted.

I'm really looking forward to this. I already have ideas for tomorrow (if I find one) and this weekend.

Checked two Party City stores and a Hot Topic. No one has them lol. I guess all of the protesters get them first. After all, it is November.
