Jon, it is usually rule of thumb to hace the front wheels turned towards the camera, so that the face of the wheel faces the camera (front wheels).
Of course this isn't a rule or anything, just a suggestion. That way u see the pretty wheel and not the big ugly black tire tread.

the light was so so, I had to shoot 1/60th, roughly 4-5 f-stop at 640 iso in most of the pics I
shot that night. Some parts of the stage the lighting did not hit, so it was tough for the pics at
the end of the stage. There was also a certain part of light that looks yellow but turns everything
red in the picture, it was odd.

what lens where you using?
28-135mm is f3.5 is usm
50mm f1.8
70-300mm f4 is usm
I got lucky! It's a used lens but the seller has some very nice pictures of it and 100% feedback. It's listed as mint and even comes with a filter and Canon hood.
