DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
i like the 60mm 2.8 macro. that's what i use when i want a little more reach than the 35mm but still want the sharpness of a prime. and don't let "macro" fool you, it takes beautiful portraits. but nice that when you want to get REAL close, you can
I've thought about that one, too. I think i'd like a little more reach than that. Id like something that will allow me to be a comfortable distance away from a pit viper as I take pictures of it. Hahah.
Or, better yet, go to borrowlenses.com and rent a bunch of different lenses. Buy the one you like the best. I tried the 24-120 F4 before I bought it. Fell in love with it when I rented it for the Ren Fest. It's my preferred walk around lens now.
I'll keep the 105 micro in mind.
And I'll probably hit up a local camera store today to get a feel for some of the lenses I'm considering. Then I'll probably end up renting two or three from borrowlenses.
Thanks for the advice, guys.

Flower was shot with a Sigma 17-50 F/2.8, and the bird was shot with a 70-200 F4L

Dude, I love the colors in that shot. Very nice.
Yeah, man. I started messing around with different materials and found that 5-10 layers of the low-grade toilet paper in the bathrooms at my dorm diffuses the light really well (it's strange, I know). I definitely wouldnt use it out in public, but it works for shooting random stuff in my poorly-lit room.
