DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
The people that were saying it wasn't sharp have D700/800s. It could come down to the ability to get a shot at 1.4 without moving lol. The bokeh seems nicer than that of the 1.8G.
I see it's on sale too. Tempting for sure but I just ordered the 85 1.8G on Monday.

The 28 is a nice lens. On par with all the other Gs. I don't know what I'm going for next. I still don't want to carry a huge zoom, but maybe the new 70-200 f/4 wouldn't be too bad.
I was looking at this lens the other night, considering it my self. I need a good zoom lens badly and have heard nothing buy good reviews on this
If it were $400 cheaper, I'd be all over the 70-200 f4!
I'm done with buying lenses for a while. Got my 24 f2.8 in the mail today, so I now have all I wanted for my trip abroad (24 2.8D, 50mm 1.8D, 85mm 1.8G).
Took the 24 for a test spin in the woods a few minutes after i opened her up. Not sure if the AF is a little bit wonky or if I'm just used to how fast and precise my 85 is, but it seemed a bit off. Maybe it was just me trying to find a defect. Anyway. A few frames from that little venture.

I haven't had any issues with my 24mm. Being a wide angle, your best results will occur with the subject being in the center of the frame.
I wish Nikon wasn't late on the f/4 game. Our version is $1400 currently, and the only option is with VR (IS) which makes it more expensive.
