SCIONS IN CANADA
Hi everyone,
Just out of curiosity, where did you all buy your Scions?
Did you import them yourselves or buy them from a dealer/importer?
For you Calgary owners, who did you buy your Xb's from?
I may be looking into getting one of these soon, so any help is appreciated!

I first test drove and talked to Local TOYOTA dealerships that had SCION XB's for sale in Ontario. They where willing to do little on the price that ranged from 22k - 26k.
Frusterated knowing what price the vehicle starts at in the US, I then looked into brokers........ I found out the Toyota delaerships basicaly use a broker/Importer just the same and get the vehicle at an Auction or Broker lot. and then Sell it under a Used Toyota Vehicle on the dealership lot here in Canada.
The middle mand and the re seller love to make good cash on this Novelty Vehicle.. and you pay for it in the end....
I then actualy contacted an Impoter/Broker and they told me it would only cost me to use the Brokers Registration # in order to import the Vehicle.. so long as I did the rest.
This was because alot of Scion Dealerships near the Canadian boarder are actualy NOT able to sell SCIONS to Canadians because Canadian cry baby delaerships whre angry that they where loosing sales to US Dealerships that has a Cheaper Product.
The USA Toyota/Scion dealerships told me that they would ether, NOT sell my a Scion outright... or that If they where going to deal with me... It would only be through a broker. Thats why I contacted the broker in the first place... but didnt like the fact it was going to cost me hundreds extra just to go through a broker.
In the end... I did it all myself.... Finaly found a cool Toyota/Scion sales man that was far enough from the boarder and also didnt see the problem in selling a car, "why would I have any problem selling you a Scion, thats what I do.. I sell cars" was his words

I not only finished Plated, registerd, and on the road a good $2000 Less then what they start for on a good deal in Canada BEFORE tax or anything.
Not only did I get the car much cheaper, pay tax on a lower amount, I also get to Finance a much lower amount overall and pay less interest in the long run. In Total at the end of the Loan payment and Everything... I finish around $6500 CND easy ahead of what I would be if I got it In Canada.
It was Brand new, No one ever had it before me, 11miles on her..... on and off the boat ... thats about it...
Just do the foot work... its alot more rewarding in the end... and you save thousands and thousands of dollars.
Good luck! if there are any XB's left for sale... I dont know...
I just exported my new '06 xB RS 4.0 by myself last weekend which I picked up in Washington and brought back to Victoria and the process was much easier then I figured it would be. The border was very friendly and easy to deal with. The hardest part was finding a dealer that would sell me a new one. The local Toyota dealer has then for sale every now and again but they only bring in automatics with no options and only grey in color and are about $4000.00 more then what I paid and plus I got the RS4.0 which they could not get and it is a 5 speed which they would not bring in for me for some strange reason. Overall I couldn't be any happier with it. Next week I will get the inspection and then some insurance and I will be mobile!
I picked up my xB from Country hills toyota here in calgary, the've still got a few of em for sale too.. I paid too much but I'm just glad to have my box.
Look for my Plate "MY XBOX" don't be shy say hi!

(shameless plug--> zensport.ca) i've been meaning to come over and visit, maybe i can get the other xb's around the 604 area code together and make a trip over to visit you.
congrats again! enjoy your new ride!
Hey Tiny,
My exporting experience was so simple it was funny. I have heard a bunch of stories on how hard it is but all I did was phone a bunch of dealers until I found one that would sell me one. They made if very easy to do, thanks to Chris at Doxon. I do not know what the dealer had to do in order to sell me mine but I just ordered it over the phone and then when it came in I went down there with a money order to pay for it and off I went. The dealer sold me a 3 day insurance permit to drive it home with. Now I have it insured 100% in my name in BC. I also got my insurance just in time because a few hours after I insured it someone came into my parkade and key the pass side of the car. I am bringing it to a body shop tomorrow to have the whole side of the car painted. Hopefully it turns out well and the scratcher does not come back. And yes I am only a couple of minuts away from your friends shop in Saanich, I have never been there but I know where it is.

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to intoduce myself. My name is Jimmy and I am with Canadian Auto Associates. We have been importing XBs since they first were released and have since delivered over 150 XBs. We now have the first TCs for sale in the county. Yes, they are legitimate and they are here with Canadian ownerships. They are available for sale and we deliver vehicles to anywhere in the country. If anyone is interested in purchasing an XB or a TC, please email me at jimmy@canadianautoassociates.com. Don't forget to hit our website www.canadianautoassociates.com
Meh, tinyhandful on this board got her TC herself.... first one to do it and is rollin in BC.
Alot of us have got our XB's from the US as well and have saved thousands of dollars, Not only in final cost inc tax's etc.... but also by not paying Interest on a higher loan amount.
I think its much more rewarding for people who are interested in a SCION to go about it personaly and bring it up. It add's to the story and history of your car.
Happy Importing,

Happy Importing,
in hindsight, the process wasn't too bad in comparison to the utter joy and pride that you feel when everything is finally done. there's lots of information on these forums in regards to importation, and if anyone has specific questions, there are more than enough people that are happy to help.
best of luck!
