SCIONS IN CANADA

Will be checking into that at the beginning of the week...

SLK1Z is totally correct. i checked with RIV (Registrar of Imported Vehicles) a month ago while the car was on its way over on the boat from japan, and so far, according to the August 2006 update, the 2007 tc IS ADMISSIBLE. and lucky for me, i began the importation process my pretty new supa' white 2007 tc into BC YESTERDAY. no problems with the CBSA at the border, paid the taxes (they forgot to charge me duty-WOOT!)...but not quite home free yet. still need to go make modifications (if any) and pass the federal inspection.
is there anyone else in BC with a tc?
she's soooo pretty......
*wave* if you see me driving around kits in van.
take care + i'll keep you all posted on the progress.
You will be the first CDN to own a tC!!!
One thing to keep in mind though...you brought it in through a loop hole. Once the Gov realizes their mistake, you may have to get rid of the tC.
Also, I find your story slightly flawed.
Why pay the extra money to import a tC from Japan (BTW, their is no 'SCION' in Japan) when it would be much cheaper to import one from the US....especially since, as far as I know, the tC is available only as a US-market car.
2-You cant import any vehicle from Japan into Canada that wasnt sold here unless it is 15 years old...well, you can, but, you cant reg'r it for road use (IE, show or track car only). Thats why everyone in Canada with a skyline has 89's, lol!

i also did wonder about whether or not they would catch the possibility of the 2007 tc being inadmissible since when the RIV list was being updated in August 2006, i don't think the 2007 tc was out, or if so, was even available to them to be tested.
in my defense though, i did call, spoke to an agent and was very explicit, stating my concerns about both the '05 and '06 models being inadmissible. the agent actually treated me as if i couldn't read and instead read it to me, telling me that the first column stated that ALL PASSENGER CARS from 1991 to 2007 were admissible (with the exceptions in the next column over) and then proceeded to ask me again if my model was a 2007 and if i saw the model listed in the "inadmissible column"...*sigh*
i feel that so far, i've done everything correctly, and have asked all of the right questions, and have documentation of all of the phone calls i've made, and names of all the people that i've talked to. i'm waiting by the mailbox for Form 2 to come back from CBSA so that i can go do my federal inspection since i'd like to get this process over with and get her licensed ASAP.
it's just a matter of waiting at this point. we'll see what happens.
thanks for your concerns K_Dawg_ONE and keep me posted if you hear anything new.
Regardless of paperwork, the tC does NOT meet the crash standards for Canada and is in fact, un-streetable. Like I said, you will be able to import it, just not plate it.
Also, the Scion dealer that sold the vehicle to you can also get in ____ from Toyota USA as Scion has a stirct policy about NOT selling to anyone without a US adress.
But well see what happens...it will be very interesting.

Im not just ASSUMING things here.
As one of the FIRST to own a Scion in Canada, I put alot of time and effort into researching these things.
Seeing as how I have helped import through my business (which is an aftermarket shop / modified car dealership, btw) many cars, im very awar of most of the import regulations.
Now seeing as you have US status, are you reg'ing the vehicle in the US? If so. then you dont have to worry about doing anything for bringing the tC over here (I think your only allowed to have the vehicle here conditionally for like XXX months).
Like I said, unless Toyota changed the front rebars on the 07 so that they conform to our strict CDN crash standards, then you will not be able to street the car. The modfications required are not as simple as 'Hey, I put a btter rebar on the car!". For you to do it that way, you would be going through a process similar to that of MotorEx USA's Skyline program...buy 10 of the car, outfit them with your modified rebars, and have the gov't document and crash all ten of your cars to make sure they stand up! There is no 'checklist' to make them streetable like the xa/xb because they are inadmissable (unless, like I said, they changed the rebar on the 07's)
And at 24, I doubt you can afford to crash ten brand new tC's!
BUt, prove me wrong. Im still VERY VERY doubtful that you will be able to reg'r for the street a tC as a Canadian reg'd to a Canadian address.

Has anybody here had any experience with these guys: http://www.vissermobiles.ca/.
According to their website, they can import 'new' xBs with any available factory options installed. Their base price includes dealer's price, exchange rate, import duty, transport/storage insurance, fed/provincial inspection fee, A/C levy, Can. safetly upgrads, ICBC registration fee, power of attorney fee and their service fee.
22,900 for base Manual (23,900 for auto) before taxes.
From the information they give, this is to import into BC only.
Is this too good to be true?

Their price is 23K for base model with nothing before tax so their price seems to be on par. All options are extra $$$. However, they claim that they can import brand new xB's.
Anybody else heard of these guys?

The user Nuvolari on here recently bought/imported one in as a surprise for his GF. Maybe PM him on exactly how he obtained it.
I've seen a couple around the Markham area recently, just like the xB, you will notice it stick out a bit.
Good luck.

i did my research, called the appropriate agencies to double and triple check, and so far so good.
