Default Is loud exhausts legal?

So I had someone pull out my resonator (I think that's what it was ) and did some exhaust work and now the exhaust is pretty loud, it can be heard a few blocks down the road. Anyone know if there are any City ordinances that specify how many db's an exhaust can be? And has anyone ever heard of\or been pulled over by an officer for a loud exhaust?

I'm debating an installation of a glas pack to lower the tone some, but not sure, I like how loud it is

There is a noise level law, but it's very rare that cops will pull you over and test out the dB of your exhaust, it's too much work for them to go thru for something that will end up getting the state/city no money. Also, a bunch of the people at my school are running open headers or straight pipes.

AND you are already did it. LOL. Im sure you will be just fine. There are enough accidents, wrecks, deaths and illegals to keep them off your tail. As quoted from officer, no not that one.

I think motorcycles have a different noise level than cars, but I know what you're saying. If they're going to go after someone for noise, it'll be a crotch rocket.

It's weird, I looked at that when I was looking up tint statutes last week. I don't think there is actually a state noise level for either. They are mentioned separately, but all I could find was "the director shall set limits" or somehting like that. Racing motorcycles on a track are specifically exempt from the noise limits.

This is what I found..

28-955. Mufflers; noise and air pollution prevention; emissions control devices; civil penalty; exception

A. A motor vehicle shall be equipped at all times with a muffler that is in good working order and that is in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise.

B. A person shall not use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device on a motor vehicle on a highway.

C. The engine and power mechanism of a motor vehicle shall be equipped and adjusted to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.

D. Beginning with motor vehicles and motor vehicle engines of the 1968 model year, motor vehicles and motor vehicle engines shall be equipped with emissions control devices that meet the standards established by the director of environmental quality.

E. A person who violates this section is subject to a civil penalty of at least one hundred dollars.

F. This section does not apply to an electrically powered motor vehicle.

Perfect! That's getting printed out and stored in the car. I still have the stock muffler, just no more resonator and some modified pipe work. I'm all legal and good to go!

Now I gotta go dance a celebration dance in my b-day suite in the streets with my beer!
