My awesome GF surprised me with a trip to SNOWBOWL
So as a little needed vacation Heidi paid for us to go up to Snowbowl in Flaggstaff on Friday to go snowboarding in the morning and head back in the afternoon. We had an awesome time but got a little sunburned.......didnt even think about wearing sunblock.
You might notice the pics look repetative, thats because I was shooting a lot of the action shots on "burst" mode which repeatedly takes pictures while you hold down the button giving you a better chance to capture a good picture on something like this.

Looks like you had a blast. My GF took me for the first time to Snow bowl and I learned to Snowboard up there as well. Personally I think snowboarding is "easier" than with ski's. First time up hitting the slopes MTcX?

Yes i did have a lot of snow on me, i ate it quite a few times trying to get the hang of it and had a couple of tumbles that were pretty bad and worried I would break something while it was happening.
What I'm told is odd is that I can go down "toe side" just fine but I can't "heel side" well at all which is supposed to be much easier. The way it was put to me is "like mastering driving in reverse before being a good driver going forward."
Because it is what i tried last time I had them setup my board with my left foot in front but I did just as crappy as I did last year when I went. For yucks I tried going down with my right foot in front (which was set at 90 degree angle since it was supposed to be in back) and my left foot in back (set at a 15 degree angle) and had no problems going down "toe side".
Actually the biggest problem I had is that I couldnt turn right, I could only go straight down really fast or carve to the left, once I start to try and go right I would lose balance and eat it.

Bend your knees, the closer your head is to the ground the less pain involved with crashing. No, bend them alot. You want your butt close to the ground.
Next, imagine you are holding a lunch tray full of food, concentrate on not spilling the food, now rotate your hips while rocking from your toes to your heals.
Be the snowball Danny.
What, your GF dosen't like drag races?

its really funny to look at them while holding page down. lol. next time wear a waterproof jacket. and start off with your toes facing down hill, then slowly start going forward. that should help you find your heal edge

The problem with starting with my toes facing down is that in order to get up I have to start on my stomach and push myself up on the board, I'm not able to pull myself up laying on my back.
I was wearing an Izod jacket which even though it might not be water proof did really awesome. I got hot a couple of times. I even layed stomach down in the snow for 10 minutes at a time to relax and didnt get wet at all, the jacket would sometimes stick to the snow but nothing would melt and get me wet under the jacket.
