need some help with the xb first gen engine
i just installed a turbo kit on my xb and is having engine problems. I think i spun a rod bearing.. i was wondering how do you take the time chain off.. never had to deal with a timing chain before..
OK i looked into it a little bit more..... Its not a bent valve or anything to do with the valves i think.. I took the small oil pan off and there is small chunks of aluminum in the oil. i think they are parts from a rod bearing. I need some help thou i cant get the crank case/ upper oil pan off to see the connecting rods. I removed all bolts. I was wondering if there is a couple bolts holding it on on the transmission side. Mine is an auto. Can you remove the lower crank case/ oil pan without removing the transmission?? I havent messed with the timing chain yet
I have a motor in my garage like I said. I didnt get a chance to look at it. I got pretty busy. But the only thing wrong with it is the rings. So if you need anything off it let call Ambers phone and see what we can do.
Thanks bud.... Ummm so yeah i dropped the lower crank. Nothing is wrong with the rods and bearings. So the only thing left that can be making the noise is the valves.. It must be a bent valve or a stuck valve... im going to buy forged pisons and rods. might as well build the lower end to run 15 psi
well i found the problem.. I found the aluminum pieces went... after removing the head and pistons.. number one rod was bent and twisted. thats what caused the noise. the bottom of the piston was hitting the crankshaft counter weight...
