inspection sticker in houston...
so i was told by an employee @ don mcgill scion that if i were to have my car take the inspection test it would not pass cause i don't have a driver side visor. i don't use it so i got rid of it and put a pair of gauges up there. is there any truth to the visor thing? if so can anyone recommend me a place where i can get my inspection done without any 'hassles'?

there is some good news and some bad news
the bad news: red tint is a no-no
the good news: the sun visors are not 'tested'
quoted from the DPS website:
20.32 Window Tinting. All 1988 or newer model vehicles that have window coating, tinting, or sunscreening applied to the windows must be inspected for the following:
1. Inspect for and reject if:
a. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windshields:
1) Extends downward beyond the AS-1 line or more than five (5) inches from the top of windshield on vehicles without an AS-1 line. Measurements shall be taken from inside the windshield; or
2)is red, blue, amber in color or is a reflective type.
b. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windows:
Windows immediately to the right and left of the driver, which open, have less than 20% light transmittance.
2. Exemptions:
a. The following will not be considered as sunscreening or glass coating devices:
1) Rearview mirror.
2)Sun visors.
3)Motor carrier destination signs.
4) Rear window wipers and motors.
5) Trunk lid handle or hinge.
6) Luggage racks.
I find it funny the constable said mirrored tint was ok. He should know traffic laws better.
