Default OMG, I almost died in my Box! :(

OMG, I almost died.. okay here is the story, I was coming back 2 work from lunch break, and I was on a bridge..Gonna go onto the free-way, so I was coming up the hill, and I was all $h!t !!! there was a huge truck coming, and FAST! so I put the pedal to the metal, and so I was all PHEW!, but, when I was coming down the hill to slow down, My gas pedal got STUCK!!! I was soo scared, it was to the ground, and traffic everywhere, and the street light just turned red, so i was pushing on the break, but car was shaking cause gas was so revved, anyway, I RAN A RED LIGHT!! OMG, my sister and my friend were screaming all that time, which was making me even scared, and this car swerved and started honking, than I couldn't stop, finally, I turned into a field, (No traffic in the field), and I kept trying to wiggle the gas pedal so maybe it would loosen ... FINALLY! it came off, and i slammed on the breaks, turned the car off, got out, and freaking screamed my head off, I was so scared.. but luckily, there is only a minor dent, and a few scratches here and there... .

I WAS SO SCARED!!... but yeah, that's the drama that happened to me today.. I almost died

Same thing happend to me about 15 years ago. Had my wife's 84 Firebird that had been in the shop 3 times because the gas pedal would stick when you stopped and you sometimes had to "punch" it to get in unstuck. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it.

So I'm sitting at a red light, light turns green and, sure enough, gas pedal is stuck. I punch it and the car takes off at full throttle. Thank god I somehow managed to react and throw it in neutral. Tried to turn off the car but it kept running full throttle for a few minutes than died. Turns out that last punch snapped the linkage in the carburetor. Block was cracked and ended up replacing it. But not before I had to go through the Better Business Bureau to get the dealer to pay $1300 of the $1800 repair bill.

I am glad you are okay - and I know how scared you had to be since your trip lasted alot longer than mine. I don't know what made me think to throw it in neutral but if anyone encounters anything similar maybe this will help.......

I thought the xB had electronic throttle like the tC does..?

You are very fortunate though man, that you didnt hurt yourself or anyone else. But remember you have other alternatives. E-brake and neutral that sucker.

Oh, well I wouldn't know what a throttle cable is, lol . .but yeah, Im taking it into the dealer on sunday... because its getting sticky, like when ever I push down on the pedal, it kinda gets stuck and than slowly comes up, and I checked underneath it to see if its gum, or sumthin, but nothing.. so yeah,....

i don't know if the B has an electronic throttle, but that sounds like a sticky throttle cable to me...

It does, but you still need a cable to let the air in.
