(UPDATED 03/16)GREEN THEME - MARCH 18th, 2006!!!
How's everybody doin?
Ok, so I've read the threads, ALL of them. Thank you for all of your posts. I realize where we goofed up a little. We failed to mention that we (the 5 dealers) had been planning this event since January.
We also failed to post our suggestion and feedback a little different. I think Roger can agree that we wanted your suggestions and feedback on our event, our already existing Saturday night event.
We wanted to know what you thought would be cool to do, like a Scion pullup, a car show, did you want trophies, did you want us to raffle off car parts, that sort of thing.
I know that Scion advertises to alot of kids and their marketing is to younger buyers, but when the lights go out here at the dealership and all is done for the day, how many kids did we sell to? You're right. I hear you. So then why do we have night club parties and host to kids etc?
Why did Scion bring in Paul Oakenfold to the Forrest Theater?
Why did Scion bring in Qbert to the Lizard Lounge?
Why does Scion continue to market their cars to the younger generation? I don't know. But I can say that I agree with them. I agree with HOW they do their advertising. Heck, last year alone, I spent more time at the club or out at an event than I did setting up anything else in my life. Can I say it was worth it? Sure. I met club owners, restaurant owners, lots of girls - come on, I'm single, I had to throw that in. I met DJ's, bouncers, promo people. All of which need cars.
I'm the kind of person who likes to put things together. Ok, this DJ with this event (Wikka with Exposed), this club with this pre party, this place, that place, etc. And you're right, it's very hard to mix and match the right place with the right crowd. Finding a way to suffice everybody is nearly impossible. That's why Exposed had so many different tents, so many different activities. They understand that Scion is all about the individual.
So, let's appreciate what we do and how we do it. Jeff Jones and Charles are known for their day events and we all show up. Brian at Dallas has his Scion Cafe as well Ron from Fowler had his dealer event and once again, we all showed up. So, in this way, I contribute my friends and promoters and club owners to bring out the night events for the rest of us who like that sort of thing.
I'm all up for suggestions about planning new events. If you guys wanna do something, for like the month of April, I'm down. But, for all the effort all of these stores have put into this GREEN THEME, let's at least support that. If you want to come for awhile and leave, that's cool. Last time I checked, the owners get in free. And that must be nice...to get into the latest and newest hot spot in all of Dallas for no charge. But I guess if you hit the clubs like I do, you appreciate when someone else picks up your tab.
Thanks for your time in reading this. I hope this lets everyone know where I'm at. I care about all you guys and might not know EVERYONE, but I would love to get to know all of you and see all the mods you've done to your cars, etc. I know some people think I'm a little stand-offish. The truth is that I'm a little more on the reserved side BEFORE I know you. After that, it's over - I'm all about fun fun and more fun.
Talk to you ALL of you soon. If you don't know me, feel free to PM me.

Okay, Lets not turn this into something ugly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and the Dealers are entitled to throw whatever kind of party they want. This is going way off topic.I don't think this is moving in a positive direction for the Scion community. If you want to go to the party then go and if you don't then don't.Just remember there will be more than this one event in the future from the area dealers. Everyone else put their 2 cents in and there is mine. Have a good evening.
Kenneth, do you have a collection of funny pictures or do you live browsing sites....that's hillarious!
Chad- point taken. I think the biggest question you could answer is this:
For those who don't want to stay late in the club, but would like to take part in the car show, will there be a pre-club time when this can happen?

I know Chad and Chad is cool, but usually quiet. I think the main advantage the Scion Guys have over the other dealers are they associate with the Scion community after hours and events and are really one of the pioneers locally of starting and being part of the actual family. I guess what I am trying to say they know the demographics better.
Chad is a clubber....duh, I think we figured that out quick and he is sticking to something he knows, can't falt him there. I am going cause whenever some of us get together it is fun. We can meet up somewhere for dinner cruise to the event and do what we want from there. I was just confused. I was under the assumption at first that this was a promotion event for Scion and the RS 3. I see now it an customer appreciation event, like the ones thrown by other dealers.

Hey Chad, you can count me in for representing HOUSTON. I got to request the time off of work, but I think they will be ok with it since I haven't requested time off yet. I will see how many I can round up.
Okay, I think I'll come, Imean, I don't have anything against the club thing. My preggy wife won't be coming, but I'll bring a friend. BUT if you guys do decide to get together somewhere else I'll do that too.
Chad, I haven't met you yet but I can't wait. you sound like a nice guy (cool? jury is still out)

As of this writing, we're still ironing out the details. Got to get approvals on artwork, parking, etc, and all the while take care of business back at our respective dealerships. But we are full speed ahead. Will post updates soon, soon, soon. This is gonna be cool.

Hello Everyone,
We have listened pondered, Listened, pondered, Now there is a solution.
We are going to be renting out a Parking lot in the west end. Exact location coming soon. I have taken a look at several lots. We are trying to get a lot that will have potential for a nice photo shoot for all the cars there. We should have the lot starting at 4:00 p.m. until 9:30. Then we can all convoy to M5 to show these people what Scions are all about. The parking lot is close to several family restaurants such as Fridays,Sonny Bryans BBQ, not to mention Joes crab shack and On the border. After the convoy possibilities are endless. Will keep everyone posted.
