BSR Fridays at the Track @ Summit Point
So november 2nd I'm headed to Summit Point for their day-long racing class. It sounds pretty fun, I've wanted to get into racing for a while and my dad said he'd get me this for my birthday. I guess he did the motorcycle class back when he used to race. My father, being the all-knowing philosopher/ binge drinker he is, said I'm gonna poop myself and not want to race anymore, but I think I might poop myself and go back the next weekend. Anybody else ever been? I got no experience racing my car except on the *ahem* road. I raced dirtbikes when I was a kid tho and I loved it. Its not for a month, but I wanna go sooooo bad!

great instructors at the point, if you've never dont REAL RACING in the tC
you will want to never stop once you start
ive done a couple classes at the point and all over the US, raced shift karts back in the day and plan on racing the tC pretty much fulltime next year
all i can say is take in everything they show/teach you, feel free to ask questions
and just learn as much as you can, get the most out of this as possible and you will not regret.

would you mind providing a link to the organization running the class? is it summit point itself or an organizatio like nasa doing a school at that track?
some tracks have their own programs, but usualkly this stuff is run by a club such as nasa, scca, porsche, bmw, maita, lotus, et al.
i do HPDE with the SCCA and NASA/PDA. it is not a race that you will be doing unless you have a roll cage and a bunch of safety equipment. even time trials require safety crap. basically, you should have an instructor and lots of time on the track with other people. there will be specific passing zones in which the overtaken car must signal a point bybefore the passing car overtakes and you will be rated/monitored on your ability to heed their passing rules.
i love HPDE. if it were not for that, then i would probably not be going into time trials next year (hill climbs). in the scca, hpde is the entry point for time trials.
it is definitely scary or is it exhilerating? i guess the difference is whether one comes back.
i could go on, but suffice it to say that you will learn a lot.
