As a 2nd gen xB owner I do! I think the 2nd Gen bB's are awesome, would be awesome to see those here. Although I still probably wouldn't get one, because just over 100hp doesn't cut it (for me). That's why I chose the 2nd Gen, plenty of power, among other things.

It will be interesting to see what the tC replacement will be.

Default My theory.

Just to reiterate, I'm not trying to hate on Scion xB 2nd-Genners or anything, but I was really disappointed that they didn't release the redesigned Toyota bB as our 2nd-Gen xB. Our xB is really closer to the t2B concept car, rather than the redesigned bB. And that's fine, but why not call it something else and just release both cars.

Anyhow, here's my theory why this didn't happen and it has nothing to do with Americans being fatter or preferring SUVs.

Not to long ago Toyota, the automotive giant, started to shows some cracks in its armor by announcing a major recall of several vehicles in its homeland of Japan. Apparently, Toyota started cranking out cars to meet demand and ignored its famous commitment to quality that it's known for. One of the models of the almost 500,000 that were recalled was the 2nd-Gen Toyota bB. Something was improperly installed on them and led to steering problems. Since a Scion xB 2007 hadn't been released in America yet, Toyota had to release something in order to keep the Scion brand fresh. There was no way they were going to take the chance of sending faulty bB to America, so they swapped the car with the Corolla Rumia, otherwise known as the Daihatsu Materia. If you don't believe me look it up online. The Scion xB and the Toyota Corolla Rumia are the same exact vehicle. In the end, I think this is why Toyota decided to swap the cars.

What do you think? BTW, I can't wait to see what the replacement for the tC will be this Wednesday. I still have a lot of faith in Toyota and my next car will definitely be a Scion.

That is a good theory. One thing, I'm not 100% sure on if it was out or not, but the Rumion wasn't plastered on the internet until several months after the new xB's were released. It is exactly the same minus the front end drivetrain. There are actually a lot of really nice options available for the Rumion. As for the Materia, it looks identical to the 2nd gen bB but not like the Rumion.

I do think it would've been a great idea if the brought the 2nd gen bB here and called it the xB, then called the 2nd gen xB something else.

In the end, we'll probably never know for sure why they decided on the new models.

Default You're right.

Yeah, I guess we'll never know for sure.

Hey, thanks for replying to my post in a nice way. The other douche bags on this site jumped all over me for posting a similar thread in the xB 2nd-Gen forum area. Glad to know that their are decent people on here too.

BTW, what's up with the Charleston Scion Group? Do you guys get together and compare cars, mods, etc., or just hang out online?

Ever consider modding your xB with some LEDs, or nice rims?

With the Bert Wolfe thing goin on soon maybe. I know Will that works in the Scion area, he's also the guy that gets the shows together. Lets go talk to him when we do and maybe he can get us some pull with the big guys.

Thomas

EDIT** To the earlier post about us actually meeting. Yea we've met up a couple times already and as far as comparing mods I guess you could say we do lol. We show what ones we have and the ones we plan on in the future. I'm glad to actually have a decent group of ppl that love they're car as much as I do mine. If your ever in Charleston and see one of us flag us down we'd be more than happy to blow a few hrs talkin lol.

Default Sorry.

I'm new to the Scion scene, if there is such a thing, so I have no idea who Bert Wolfe is. And what do you mean by pull with the big guys? Are you referring to an upcoming event or something? Sorry if I seem out of it. I am.

Yeah we just started a Scikotics chapter and have our own sub-forum over on that site. We just hang out and talk about cars and what not. Maybe if it grows enough there can be seperate chapters within WV. Once the weather gets nice we'll be able to do a lot more.

As for my xB, yeah I have a lot planned. Already lowered it, have some carbon fiber inside, CAI, think that's it so far. My Anzo LED tails actually came in today, but one of them is defective so they're sending me a new set. Weak sauce but it's gonna be worked out. Then wheels, 5 Axis lip kit, never ending money pit like my last car was. Good stuff.

Berte Wolfe is a local dealership. I think he means if we can get in with Will (the Scion Dealership guy) maybe we can get some pull (leverage, good graces, etc.) with the upper management.

Mike, that sucks about your taillights. Were they pretty cool about replacing the defective one?

Sounds awesome. Do you know if it's legal to get custom paint jobs, like decals on your car? WV rules and regs seem so strict compared to our neighboring states, esp Ohio. I swear I saw a truck with a wooden body (2X4s bonded together) the other day.

I was looking at importing a Toyota bB, until I did a cost analysis. Talk about a money pit!

Default Head or tails

Do those LED taillights change colors like the ones on Toyotas concept vehicles, or are they a fixed color? Can you get matching fog lights?

Yea you can have custom paint jobs with decals...Believe it or not around Charleston you can get away with almost anything done to your car. Dark tint loud exhausts and systems and underbody LEDs

Hell, I'm moving to Charleston then. Wheeling sucks. I've heard you guys and Morgantown are the only 2 cities in WV that are actually growing.

Yeah even though we have inspections, you can get by with most stuff. Thank god we're not like CA. I'm from KY and they don't have inspections at all. It's annoying having to go turn my lights on for some guy so they can give me a sticker lol.

My LED tails just have a lot of LED's that light up red when the signals/parking/brakes are on. Can't get by with anything other than red for tails, that's one thing I know you won't get by with.

John, I'll post over on Scikotics about my lights. I'll do it tomorrow, I'm about to crash. But yeah I called the guy I bought them from. The company is sending me a new set.
