clock and gauge on xA/xB require soldering..

the clock on xB and xA use 1206 sized leds (4 of them)
and the gauges are yeah.. 4 plcc sized ones.

hmm.. i did an xA... should take pictures... looks nice.

Well, in reading it, it looks like the Speedo bulb simply gets colored with a sharpie, the HVAC gets a colored or sharpied bulb swap, and the clock area gets 4 led's...

It looks like a REALLY easy job, but I really want one locally to do as a guinea pig. In other words, someone to come by on an afternoon who understands he's my first vict...er...customer for this, and that I will only charge for parts, and that he or she won't send the mob after me if something gets screwed up.

I honestly can't imagine this job being hard at all, but I have PLENTY of experience with tC's and NONE on xB's. So yeah, I'll start doing these regularly once I get a local guinea pig.

do people find that led-swapping the HU is worth it? It seems to require quite a few LED's...

^^ i assume you saw the tech article on SL about the xA/xB lights...

that would be the cheap way out.. but the led bulbs can be replaced just by soldering like you would before.
and then the bulb swap for the a/c controls (swap it out... a colored covering sucks)

as long as you can open the sucker up (plenty of tech articles on this) and can get to the bulbs that need replacing.. you're fine.

and yeah... i personally think the HU isn't worth the time... but that's me.

Yeah, the HU requires a TON of them! and even after you're done, it's still....um...the stock radio.

For the xA/xB, what do you swap out? A #74 type bulb that's an LED equiv?

I'll be glad to do one if you can supply all the parts. I still haven't done one.

I'm assuming you'd have to go through the guides on how you do the swap. LED's I can do no problem. I just don't keep any of the required bulbs around.

Yeah, well, i'm not going to take the risk and order the wrong stuff. I'd rather have someone bring that stuff over and have me do it for free the first time around.

Hard to say... but to be honest, even if I do, I probably won't bring all my gear down. Just takes up too much room, especially when my wife wouldn't POSSIBLY let me go down there without her and the kids She loves the shore.

it CAN be done. But it'll cost... they're very small LED's and you need like 35 of them. Very time consuming. It'd probably take a couple of hours to replace them all.
