well i got pulled over tonight going 85 in a 55.....to make a long story kina short cop pulls beside me on the highway and uses his pa system to tell me to pull over....next as i am pulled over he gets back on the pa and tells me to exit my vehicle and go back to his car...i thought this was strange and kinda funny....so i walk up to his car half way laughing because out of the times i have been pulled over the cop always came to my car!....he asked what was funny....so i told him...anyway....asks where i was going blah blah blah.....then tells me to go back to my car....so i'm sittin there for about 20 seconds or so...and he gets back on the pa and tells me to pull away....(no ticket or anything)...so i pull away....and travel down the highway at 55mph....and a car is trying to merge so i signal and pull into the left lane with the cop right behind me....he is right on my bumper....(if not a cop a brake check would have occured) so i speed up to 60....still on my bumper and the car that i let merge is right beside me....so finally the car beside me pulls away and the cop goes flying past me talking on his cell phone....i was laughing so hard it was like a scene from super troopers!!!

Maybe the cop was talking to his soon to be ex-wife and was wishing you were going to gun him down while he sat in his cruiser to save him the misery.

That cop was either suicidal or so lazy that he violated every saftey measure that was tought to him in the poloice academy.

I have seen these new radar detectors that sense some other stuff coming from cruisers, like their radio band, and other computer equipment. I know that the radar detectors are legal, but are the ones that detect radio band and other equipment also legal? Thanks.

oh scioncop please help me!

ok last year in june my girlfriend took my car and got into an accident, the insurance on this car had expired so she was not covered.

ok, the lady she hits insurance company tried to go after me and her for reimbersment, i spoke with the ladys insurance company and explained to them that i was not the one driving, i am not the one responsible for the accident and that they should try and persue my girlfriend as she accepted responsibilty, i never heard fromthe insurance company again.

my girlfriend on the other hand did hear from them and responded to them that she would not be reimbursing the insurance company

the insurance company stopped contacting her as well.

just this week, over a year later, we both recieved letters from a collection agency threating to have both our licenses suspended as well as our registrations on our cars suspended.

what is your advice as to put an end to this situation, with out either of us having to pay this collection agency.

is it possible? should we just ignore them? can they even suspend our licenses?

please help in any way you can, THANK YOU!!!!!

Collection agencys can't suspend licenses or registrations. Only a DMV rep working under the authority of the Commissioner of DMV can suspend your license. And they can't suspend your license if you were not driving. Your ex-girl may get her license suspended.

Did you tell them that you allowed your ex-girl drive the car? That may be a big factor in your State.

Find out who the Colection organization is. If it's the court that requesting the money I would contact them right away and explain the situation. did you ever receive a summons to appear in court in reference to the accident? If not then the court should not be going after you.

Sounds like a Firm hired by the other ladies insurance company is going for restitution for damages.

if so this will end up in Civil court. was there a police report for the accident? My advice to you is to get a free initial consultation with an attorney who specializes in this kind of motor vehicle accident.

Does your girl friend have insurance? If she does she's going to have to report it to them. Otherwise your wide open to get sued since you let her drive your vehcile that had no minimal insurance on it.

Don't talk to Stuart and Allen anymore. Refer them to your attorney.

Default few random things

i gotta couple questions but i dont know if they were asked already...

my sister lends her car to her boyfriend for work everyday. If he gets pulled over would there be any legal issues because he is in no way related to my dad who the car is insured to?

also what is the fine for not having your front plates on? i was in a huge accident and i lost my plate and really didnt realize it until the work was finished.

oh and how often do people get pulled over for the exterior under body light kits? is it like a common thing and would the ticket be enormous?

thanks for everything... i have had pleasant experiances with CT cops... cept new haven ones... woodbridge ones are nice.

What kind of legal issues are you reffering to?

Missing a front place could be an infraction of $73 or $93 dolllars. Nothing more than that. If you had an accident and the plate was lost due to the accident. Get the police case number and go to DMV. They will give you a new set free of charge.

Body kits are not regarded as a priority im my police department. I have never heard of anybody in my department that has done anything about that. I do beleive in California they are very strict about after market stuff.

No troubles at all. As long as the car is not listed as stolen, the operator has a legal license and the car is registered and insured No problems at all.

Lights can get you pulled over especially if its a red or blue light.

Only your girlfreind should contact the insurance that she had when the accident occured for the purposes of coverage. Not you.

Her auto insurance is responsible for covering the accident. Otherwise your goiing to be held liable as well since it was your car and you gave her permission to drive it.

That's weird, because Allstate and Geico have told me if someone else drives my car, I'll be responsible for any accident they cause... so that might not be true? Or does that change depending on the no-fault state laws or something?

well thats the thing, she didnt have insurance at the time, she didnt own a car of her own, and my insurance at the time was expired as with so much going on i just completly forgot to renew it

so should i be worried about this collection agency? or do you think they will eventually back down? ive heard from pretty much everyone that if i ignore them, and send them a letter stating they are harrasing me, that i should be ok, is this true?

Looks like your eventually going to court. Get a Lawyer.

Once you place a "no-Contact "request in with any collection agency then they will pursue you through legal means. Trust me when I tell you that they are not going away. Stuart and Allen sounds like a firm and the first step in any collection is an attempt for reimbursement through direct contact with the defendant. Remeber they are attorneys most likely hired by her insurance company so they have a duty to work the case for the client "victim".

Get a Lawyer ! Get a lawyer ! Get a Lawyer !

Oh and by the way get a lawyer.

That is true if he had insurance. I was going on the fact that Zoomby already mentioned he had no insurance but his girlfriend may have had it at the time.

Zoomby get your self some proffessional help about your case. Shopping around for what you want to hear will not help you.

I never see local police pulling people over on Interstates. It's always the State Police. Are the local police allowed to stop you for traffic violations on State roads such as I-95, or something?
