well now wel all know what you're saying Punjabi_tC_Sonu! =)

in cali you can tint all limo except the front (passenger and driver) and windshield. the front is 45% if i remember right and that isnt even worth tinting if you're doing 45%

First of all i just want to say thanks for have this up here. My question relates to carb regulation. I know c.a.r.b stand for "California Air Resources Board" so im guessing this only matters for california right? As you can see im not very saby with this.
I live in Philadelphia PA, i own a Scion tC and like everyone i want to get more power out of my car so i basically want to know if i put like a Injen CAI, or headers that dont have carb numbers am i still legal in my state.

Thanks

Sorry but im not familiar with the actual numbers. In Ct we basically go by who has or don't have emmission stickers. The inspectors are respnsibale for gauging vehicles.

Default Wow...

All I wanna say is...ScionCop...you are the best. I'm an 18 year old kid and I've had so many tickets that were wrongly issued to me (but I had noone to ask, and no money for a good lawyer) that I felt violated. It's really nice to read posts from someone who not only is a cop, but a good person at that. Thanks alot.

Here's a CT question for you, what is the real penalties for driving with an open drink (non alcoholic), eating food while driving and driving with the cell phone... ive heard rumors that if you are under 18 and you are driving even with a handsfree device u get a fat ticket or even your car impounded... i just want this to all be clear and eliminate all the stupid rumors

The new rules came out on Oct 1st. I'll type it in as per staute when I get a chance. I see that their is some new stuff on 16-18 yr drivers and of course the cell phone and other distracting conduct while driving.

HA HA HA!!!! Sorry I couldn't help myself.

District Attorney ? I don't care where you live. DA's don't handle MV tickets. Yes technically they have the governing authority but any DA getting involved in that is doing a personal favor or something way out of the ordinary is going on.

MV Tickets are handled by the Traffic court prosecuters and clerks Office. Yes even in NY.

Bota146 don't you get it yet. You need to pick up the phone. You still haven't said what you are. Enlighten us please.

ScionCop
No one said anything about parking offenses. I was refering to traffic violations, most likely moving violations since there's not much of a reduction possible for non-moving violations (or non-point carrying violations).

As far as your opinion on using the DA's office for a reduction of charges, I have to disagree, Ed. In the county where I live, it is customary for the issuing officer to prosecute the ticket. He can offer a plea bargain or accept an offer from the defendant at the time of trial. Also, the District Attorney's office will often arrange prior to trial for a plea bargain, saving the officer and defendant a trip to court. I know this from personal experience.

If you're going to refute this statement, please provide facts as opposed to inuendo.
I don't know which state of New York you live in....but I've had many experiences in the court rooms of NY and I have never heard of such a thing. The DA in my area never talked to anyone prior to having me come on. So, buddy, why don't you take everyone's advice and....*drumroll*....GET LOST. Would you like that spelled out? In russian? Okay...sure...no problem:

Spelling - G E T L O S T
Russian - Pashol Lesom

Default zhenya / car stop

zhenya, in Ct we don't ticket per window but a tint ticket here will cost you $136.00--ouch. I could only imagine since its $60.00 in NY they may be doing it per window.

In CT only the front driver / passenger side windows + windshield qualify for a ticket.

Does NY have the first time waiver for cell phone violation? In Ct if you get caught the first time you can get the ticket waived if you show that you purchased a hands free device for your phone.

The first time waiver has expired. It was good during the first few months of the law. So it doesnt matter that I wasnt talking on the phone? The bill is not significant enough proof?
Also, as per tint tickets, this is what I found on the NYS DMV website
"12-a. (a) Every motor vehicle, except a motorcycle, when driven or operated upon a public highway, road or street shall be equipped with a front windshield in a fixed and more or less upright position constructed of safety glass as defined in subdivision fourteen of this section and required by subdivisions eleven and twelve hereof. No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign or other nontransparent material other than a certificate or paper required to be displayed by law upon the front windshield or the sidewings or side windows on either side forward of or adjacent to the operator`s seat.
(b) No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any public highway, road or street: (1) the front windshield of which is composed of, covered by or treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent unless such materials are limited to the uppermost six inches of the windshield; or (2) the sidewings or side windows of which on either side forward of or adjacent to the operator`s seat are composed of, covered by or treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent; or (3) if it is classified as a station wagon, sedan, hardtop, coupe, hatchback or convertible and any rear side window has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent; or (4) the rear window of which is composed of, covered by or treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent. A rear window may have a light transmittance of less than seventy percent if the vehicle is equipped with side mirrors on both sides of the vehicle so adjusted that the driver thereof shall have a clear and full view of the road and condition of traffic behind such vehicle."

I was ticketed for sub 12b2 and 12b3. Is it just me or is the second one for back windows?

Default Aggressive driving

Basically aggressive driving is when your being an offensive driver. You don't slow down, yeild, grant right of way, speed, pass, cut off and so on.

Your driving with an attack mentallity.

im just curious, i know there are certain things cops don't do to other cops like, they dont give them tickets or their immediate family members tickets just as a courtesy...so what happens lets say if you're a cop, and you get pulled over for speeding way over the speed limit? what would happen? (and the cop isn't familar with who you are, not same dept. or anything like that)

It's only courtesy and not a right. It's always up to the working cop on what the outcome is going to be.
