Default I need driving advise/weather alerts

Yes FAIL for using advise, not advice. lol

Hey guys I'm taking my car from LA to Seattle. I was planning on taking I-5 all the way up, but my friend that has made the trips a handful of times said that there may be snow. His advice was to take the 101 (which is much longer) because there is less weather difficulty.

Can some of you guys point out the spots that I may have trouble in? Or if I will have trouble?

I'm driving a lowered tC, no winter tires.

Thanks a lot!!

I will be heading up this Wednesday.

I've done the drive before and I think you should just take I5 all the way. It may be a boring drive from the grapevine til stockton and after sacramento to Redding, but when you get into Shasta hooowee the drive becomes sick! I would just check the weather and stay up on it. Oh btw sick tC homie saw your ride by the North hall by Steves and Pats ride

how low are you and what kind of tires are you on? if you're not atleast on all season tires and on summer tires... you might be in trouble if you hit snow, big time...

just using google maps to look at the route. i'd just stick to the I-5, the other suggestions it has are SOOOOOOOOOOOO much longer than that. and besides no matter what road you take, heading north is heading north, it gets colder all the same. while the I-5 is closer to the coast and gets more moisture for making snow, but you can always just pull over and wait it out. get a motel for the night.

regardless of the road, if your car isn't equipped for the weather, regardless of the roads, you shouldn't be driving anyway.

Thanks for the input. Drax, can you move this to the Norcal section, I accidently posted in Socal territory. I'm looking for locals that know of seasonal patterns around this time of the year, but nonetheless I do appreciate your tips!

My car is not low enough for a concern to be had. I am planning on resting overnight halfway through my trip back home, I know I'll need it. I-5 is by far the shorter route, but I heard that the 101 along the coast has NO chances of snow, though adding 8+ hours to the journey.

just take the I-5 like kirby said, I-5 isn't too bad and if it starts to snow then just slow down and drive on the right side as many people do until the weather clears up. the 101 is a long way around but if your driving late at night or early in the morning then it will be really foggy that you would more than likely want to put over because there is few dips going to Santa Barbara and after that...any more pics of the car?

I think it's set. I'll be taking the 5 all the way up. I just got word that my friend with the red R32, that was at SEMA (parked by the white M3) will be following me up.

I'll try to get some pictures along the way/when I get back. I had 3+ midterms at school, so I wasn't able to be in Vegas. FML.
