After viewing some video and images of side impact xb collisions, I think I want to upgrade to some proper side impact airbags. Has anyone done this or know if its a possibility? Thanks

 

even if it is possible to equip a standard model with side air bags, my bet is that it is extremely cost prohibbitive. you'd be better off trading in for a model that already has them equipped.

 

ya but I like my xb and $a few thousand is better than death. How much would it cost?

 

I am no expert, but I believe it would be prohibitively expensive, not to mention very technical installation.

 

well, put it this way...usually when a car is involved in a collision that resulte in air bag deployment...the car is a total loss because the cost of replacing the components and the installation is very high.

 

you do know that even some of the sturdiest , safest , heaviest cars on the road still get heavily damaged and a lot of injury will be sustained , side airbags or not.



"t bone" / side impacts are way bad , no matter what you're driving or where in the car you are sitting.

 

OK, that makes sense, the videos just look so bad! I guess I'll just be extra careful while driving. drive safely, Peace.

 

The 1st gen isn't designed to have the space for them. If not done right, they could cause more harm than good.

My neighbor told me that I should just avoid getting hit from the side.

He drives a car without airbags. *yikes*
