Not one header, chip, nor CAI for the tC is legal here. Believe me, I checked. Maybe for other cars, yes (like the DC Sports header for the xA and xB). But none for our cars. So far, only the K&N SRI is CARB-legal but only for 05-06 tCs. The header (for the tc) is illegal bec. it deletes the cat ==> a for our beloved Cali. Air Resources Board.

Keep it clean and you shouldn't have any problems. (No fart can-type exhausts!)
I've had the Precision Muffler Axle Back on my tC for 2+ years. No issues. 35% tints have been
on for about the same time. No issues either. Don't drive like an **** and don't make your tC
stand out from the crowd with ricey mods and you should be ok like me!

x3

I never get pulled over for anything on the car as long as I am driving the speed limit. There have been times where I have had cops follow me for a while, but they always seem to leave. I know they are running the plate, but I don't have anything against me so I am cool.

Back on topic, there are no California Smog legal headers, intakes and catalytic converters for the Scion tC. Except what was original from the factory. Sucks

That's some of the dumbest stuff I've ever read. What ever though i'm gonna do what i want and if some ***** cop wants to ticket me than so be it.

Just realize that before you pop off at the mouth to a cop giving you a $10 fix it ticket, he could be towing your car for being a gross polluter or unsafe vehicle depending on what you have done.

Wanna get back at them? Just go out and get a vehicle pre-1975, they're exempt from smog testing.

At HIN last weekend, they had cops pulling people over for mods INSIDE the parking lot. After you pay your $8 to park, they were waving people over and writing tickets. Welcome to the show... Some peeps were a little nervous on exiting...

Why would i pop off to a cop? That's dumb. I guess I could just keep my stock stuff incase. And this might be a dumb question (i'm full of those), but, If i were to put say a header on the car, couldn't i just get a cat and put it somewhere in the exhaust under the car?? I mean it'll clean the emissions and stuff. Maybe that's just a crazy idea i dunno. Damn you toyota for putting the cat ON the header.

You can't alter the Emissions equipment. It doesn't only have to pass the sniffer test, but a visual inspection as well.

just get the k&n for the older tc's you will still have to swap it for smog time but a cop will see the carb eo , and be ok , or even if he looks it up I highly doubt he'll notice th eyear and trip . and if he does just say that you musta got shipped the one for older cars instead of newer ones . these aren't like civics where the engines changed over the years

.

it could also be illegal depending how things truly are .

could be considered entrapment or overstepping their grounds(jurisdiction) depending upon what the hin promoters pay for .

the catalytic converter must be in the stock location or very close to stock location.

if you have cats on the header you are SOL

toyota and other brands do it because doing so raises the heat of the cat thus burning more of the hydrocarbons . in other words because the 2azfe is a dirty motor that needs extra help.

other times they put the cat on the header(s) for space issues under the car . the tc /camry/rav4/corolla it is not a space issue it's an emmissions issue.

WOW. That's dumb, but to be expected. I saw a bunch of police at the entrance and guessed that was what they were doing or planned to do.

actually the 07+ have slight changes like the MAF sensor and i think an exhaust manifold change. i could be wrong about the exhaust but i know for sure the intake is different which is why it is for the 05-06 and not all of them. i got a K&N CAI for $30 because the guy i got it from didn't realize it didn't work on his 07. i know the CAI isn't CARB legal or exempt and that is why i'm going to be getting the SR one of these days.

and yeah when i pulled into the lot at HIN there was a mustang with his hood popped pulled over and 3 cops standing there looking at cars pulling in.
